Amanda DiMeo, Ami Karlage, Karen Schoenherr, Lauren Spigel, Saugata Chakraborty, Maria Bazan, Rose L. Molina

Summary: People who speak languages other than English face difficulties in accessing the US healthcare system, and cultural brokering can help improve communication and trust between patients and clinicians from different cultural backgrounds. However, there is a lack of clear definitions and research on the impact of cultural brokering in pregnancy care. The study proposes four key aims for cultural brokering: language support, bridging cultural differences, social support and advocacy, and navigation of the healthcare system.
