Summary: ObjectiveEpilepsy after resection surgery significantly decreases the quality of life of children. This study aimed to investigate the quality of life of children with seizures after resection surgery and its influencing factors. It was found that surgery-related factors do not predict the quality of life, while preoperative language development retardation or language dysfunction and postoperative ILAE seizure outcome classification are independent predictors of the quality of life.

Summary: This study investigated the presence of felt and enacted stigma in people with epilepsy and members of an epilepsy organization, and evaluated the impact of both types of stigma on health-related quality of life. The results showed that felt stigma was significantly associated with male gender and the number of antiepileptic drugs, while enacted stigma was significantly correlated with male gender, number of antiepileptic drugs, and longer duration of the disorder. Felt stigma scores were negatively related to overall health-related quality of life. These findings suggest that felt stigma is a significant predictor of deteriorating quality of life in people with epilepsy.

Summary: This multi-center longitudinal cohort study aimed to assess the trajectories of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in children with chronic kidney disease (CKD) over time. The results showed that the HRQoL scores differed between children with different CKD stages, and the transition from dialysis to transplantation was significantly associated with the improvement in HRQoL. Children with CKD stage 1-5 and transplant recipients at baseline had stable HRQoL over time.

Summary: This scoping review looked at Health-related Quality of Life in children and adolescents with congenital hyperinsulinism, revealing heterogeneous study designs and inconsistent results. It is recommended to use generic and condition-specific instruments in larger samples for longitudinal observation to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the impact of the disease on patients' quality of life.

Summary: The study suggests that the HRQoL benefits of CI are perceived more positively by parents of ND children compared to NCNIDD children. However, parents of NCNIDD children still responded favorably in most domains, except in the areas of supporting the child and self-reliance. The differences in mean domain scores between the two groups were statistically significant, even when adjusting for socioeconomic and family variables.

Summary: In the assessment of HRQoL in 4-to-6-year-old children with T1DM, significant differences were found between children's self-reports and maternal proxy-reports. Mothers tended to underestimate general and disease-related components of HRQoL but were likely to overestimate the psychological wellbeing of their ill young children with T1DM. Factors such as maternal education, marital status, insulin regimen, and achievement of glycemic control were found to modify estimations of HRQoL and child-maternal discrepancies.
