Summary: Chronic kidney disease is a common and serious complication of diabetes mellitus, contributing significantly to kidney disease burden. Understanding optimal management strategies to reduce cardiovascular risk and improve survival rates is crucial for diabetic patients with CKD.

Summary: Burned out or burnt out testicular cancer (BTC) refers to the spontaneous and complete regression of testicular germ cell tumor in the presence of distant metastases at diagnosis. The study found inconsistencies in the diagnosis and treatment of BTC, highlighting the need for larger collaborative studies to define the best approach for these patients.

Summary: Diabetes mellitus is a leading cause of chronic kidney disease (CKD), and recent studies have shown that even CKD patients without diabetes mellitus are at heightened risk for hypoglycemia. In patients transitioning to end-stage renal disease (ESRD), the phenomenon of "burnt-out diabetes" is observed, where hyperglycemia resolves and hypoglycemia becomes frequent. Hypoglycemia is causally associated with mortality, and it is important to implement strategies to prevent dysglycemia in CKD and ESRD patients.

Summary: Diabetic kidney disease is the primary cause of end-stage kidney disease in high-income countries. It is challenging to control glycemic fluctuations in uremic patients, making continuous glucose monitoring an ideal tool for managing diabetes in hemodialysis patients. Studies have shown that continuous glucose monitoring is more accurate and easier to use than glycated hemoglobin testing, especially in patients with type 2 diabetes on hemodialysis.

Summary: Autistic students are more likely to drop out of university and experience higher levels of burnout and mental health symptoms compared to non-autistic students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Universities should enhance both academic and social support to promote equal opportunities for autistic students in Higher Education.

Summary: This study examines the effectiveness of chatbot anthropomorphism in customer interactions and finds significant positive effects on trust, purchase intention, word of mouth, and satisfaction with the shopping experience. The study suggests that social presence serves as a critical mediating mechanism in these effects.

Summary: In patients receiving chronic hemodialysis, infective endocarditis (IE) is a common and serious complication characterized by higher mortality and relapse rates compared to non-HD patients. Additionally, cardiac surgery is less frequently performed in HD patients.

Summary: The use of retinoids in cancer treatment and prevention has shown both successes and disappointments. All-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) has been effective in curing acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL), but has limited efficacy in other types of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Vitamin A supplementation as a cancer prevention strategy has been ineffective and may increase the risk of lung cancer. Recent studies have shown that synthetic retinoids have potential in treating AML, especially in subsets of the disease that are sensitive to these compounds.

Summary: Pharmacological therapy is the main treatment for cancer patients, but dosing based on body size is still the predominant approach. Therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) in oncology remains insufficient, with a lack of studies related to clinical outcomes. Therefore, there is a need to fill the evidence gaps and improve the uptake of TDM in oncology.

Summary: This study assessed the accuracy and clinical relevance of a factory-calibrated CGM in individuals on hemodialysis. The results showed that the CGM had reasonably accurate performance and is clinically relevant for improving diabetes management in this population.

Summary: This case study describes a patient with SLE who progressed to end-stage renal disease (ESRD) and received belimumab treatment for lupus nephritis. The results suggest that ESRD patients may benefit from belimumab therapy, but caution is needed for potential adverse effects during treatment with belimumab.

Summary: This study retrospectively describes the safety and efficacy of SGLT2i in preserving residual kidney function (RKF) in diabetic patients undergoing incremental hemodialysis (iHD). The results showed that all patients preserved RKF after the introduction of SGLT2i and there was a significant improvement in residual kidney urea clearance (KrU) at 12 months. There were also significant improvements in blood pressure, uric acid levels, hemoglobin A1c, urine albumin/creatinine ratio (UACR), and 24-hour proteinuria. The use of SGLT2i in diabetic patients starting iHD appears to be safe and effective in preserving RKF.

Summary: Randomized clinical trials have demonstrated that statin therapy effectively reduces the risk of recurrent atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease in patients with established atherosclerotic disease. Therefore, high-intensity statins are universally recommended for patients with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, regardless of diabetes status.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2D) and its control level on periodontal disease and the number of missing teeth in patients undergoing hemodialysis. The results showed that T2D was significantly associated with periodontitis and the number of missing teeth in hemodialysis patients. Additionally, it was found that poor glycemic control, as determined by glycoalbumin levels, was significantly associated with the number of missing teeth in these patients.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the impact of hemoglobin and iron parameters on mortality in hemodialysis patients with or without diabetes. The results showed that hemoglobin level is associated with better survival in hemodialysis patients without diabetes, but not in those with diabetes.
