Summary: This study investigated the inhibition of angiogenesis as a strategy in respiratory disorders, using bevacizumab in an OVA-induced rat model of asthma. It was found that bevacizumab effectively reduced bronchial inflammation by downregulating VEGF expression, leading to decreased inflammatory cell populations and cytokines. This suggests that angiogenesis inhibition not only suppresses inflammation by blocking VEGF expression, but also inhibits the development of new blood vessels and progression of asthmatic attacks.

Summary: The study found that solasodine has the ability to reverse several characteristics of bronchial asthma induced by ovalbumin and aluminium hydroxide in rats. Solasodine can reduce airway hyperresponsiveness, infiltration of inflammatory cells, and histamine levels in the airways. It can also decrease the levels of IgE, nitrites, nitric oxide, and pro-inflammatory mediators in both bronchoalveolar lavage fluid and blood. Additionally, solasodine can inhibit mast cell degranulation, leading to reduced airway inflammation and the production of histamine and Th2-associated cytokines.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the anti-asthmatic properties of tilianin against ovalbumin-induced asthma in mice. The results showed that tilianin could inhibit the inflammatory response caused by asthma and reduce the levels of Th2 cytokines and pro-inflammatory mediators. In addition, tilianin also exhibited antioxidant activity.
