Summary: Climate change impacts vary across different geographical contexts and primarily affect local areas, leading to a demand for local solutions. The local level plays a crucial role in adapting to climate change, but many European countries have not fully integrated adaptation into their local policies. We conducted a study on 21 Alpine Swiss municipalities to understand the slow progress of local adaptation. We found that significant past extreme events and high perceived climate risk are important for local adaptation, with the latter being the most influential factor.

Summary: Identifying the components of adaptation capacity of agricultural beneficiaries in Iran, where about 25% of the population is comprised of agricultural beneficiaries, is crucial in reducing damages caused by climate change. This study in the Lake Urmia basin revealed that focusing on individual, social, and organizational levels of adaptation capacity and their components can enhance community resilience. The unique aspect of the model presented in this study is the simultaneous examination of different levels of adaptation capacity.

Summary: There is limited information on the perspectives of caregivers and providers regarding uncertainty in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) experience. Interviews conducted with caregivers and providers of infants admitted to a safety-net NICU revealed a positive association between caregiver information gathering, clinical continuity, support systems, maternal mental health support, witnessing a child's progress, and adaptation to chronic uncertainty. These findings suggest important areas of intervention to promote parental adaptation to the uncertainty inherent in the NICU experience.

Summary: According to a survey conducted in Iran, the mental health status of the population over 15 years of age showed an increasing trend during the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020. The prevalence of mental disorders was higher in individuals infected with COVID-19 and bereaved families. This may be attributed to the prevalence of the COVID-19 epidemic and rapid demographic, social, and economic changes in Iran. Therefore, it is necessary to plan for improving mental health in this population.

Interviews with women who gave birth during this period revealed that these restrictions had a profound negative impact on their emotional and physical wellbeing. Women were more concerned about giving birth alone than contracting COVID-19, and some sought private care or delayed seeking NHS services to have the birth experience they desired.

Summary: Type 1 diabetes poses risks for pregnant individuals and their babies. How women with type 1 diabetes navigate the challenges and engage with healthcare professionals is crucial for maintaining good glycemic control. This review examines literature from the past decade and identifies key themes including the dominance of glycemic control, emphasis on risk, importance of social and peer support, care organization and communication, and the impact of technology. Women with type 1 diabetes value being treated as partners in their care and benefit from support from family, friends, and the diabetes community. Research on the impact of diabetes technologies and integrating peer support into current care is needed.
