Summary: The aim of this study was to investigate the long-term effects of prenatal and early-life exposure to WIFI signals on neurodevelopment, behaviors, and biochemical changes in Wistar rats. The results showed that prenatal WIFI exposure had no effects on hippocampal CA1 neurons, oxidative equilibrium in the brain, and neurodevelopment of rats. However, it did affect body weight, spatial memory and learning function, and behavioral hyperactivity in male rats.

Summary: Intellectual disability (ID) is a condition characterized by limitations in cognitive development and adaptive behavior. This study investigated potential biomarkers for ID using clinical assessment, standardized tests, and blood samples. Decreased levels of FKN, NGF- β, and vitamin B12, as well as increased levels of DCFH and nitrite, were found in the ID group. Positive correlations were observed between certain biomarkers and specific domains on the WISC-IV test. TNF- α and oxidative stress biomarkers suggest a complex etiology for ID, requiring further research for better understanding and effective treatments.

Summary: This study evaluated the anti-stress activity of DHA-rich fish oil, Tualang honey (TH), and their combination on various oxidative stress parameters in a chronic stress rat model. The results showed that both DHA-rich fish oil and TH significantly suppressed stress-induced elevation of serum corticosterone and lipid peroxidation, while increasing total antioxidant capacity. However, only TH reduced stress-induced elevation of oxidized glutathione (GSSG) and normalized the GSH/GSSG ratio. Consuming DHA-rich fish oil and TH together did not provide additional benefits compared to consuming them separately.

Summary: Oxidative stress is important in the development of Alzheimer's disease. Boric acid (BA) has neuroprotective effects through its ability to reduce lipid peroxidation and support antioxidant defense. This study aimed to evaluate the therapeutic potential of BA treatment in rats with Alzheimer's disease.

Summary: Brain deterioration with age is associated with inflammation and oxidative stress. Recent studies have found a relationship between coenzyme Q(10) and neurological oxidative stress and cognitive impairment. This study aimed to analyze the association between CoQ(10) and cognitive functioning in older adults aged 65-99 years, controlling for other factors. The results showed that plasma CoQ(10) was significantly associated with cognitive functioning and executive function, even after controlling for other measures.

Summary: This study investigates whether betaine has a therapeutic effect on sperm deformity and vitality under chronic restraint stress (CRS) and its mechanism. The results show that betaine injections can improve spermatogenesis dysfunction caused by CRS, which may provide potential dietary guidance.

Summary: This study explores the association between the transferrin gene polymorphism rs3811655 and psychotic symptoms, cognition, and antioxidant enzymes in patients with schizophrenia. The results suggest that this polymorphism is involved in iron-induced oxidative stress and cognitive impairment in schizophrenia, deepening our understanding of the pathophysiology of the disorder.

Summary: Patients with early-onset schizophrenia have more severe negative symptoms and cognitive deficits. Oxidative stress is believed to be involved in cognitive impairment in schizophrenia. Total antioxidant capacity (TAOC) is an important indicator of oxidative stress. However, the relationship between age of onset, TAOC, and cognitive performance in schizophrenia has not been explored.

Summary: The present study investigated the effects of policosanol (PCO) on cognitive function, oxidative-antioxidative status, and amyloid-beta (Aβ) plaque formation in an Alzheimer's disease (AD) rat model. The results showed that PCO treatment improved Aβ-induced cognitive decline by modulating oxidative-antioxidative status and inhibiting Aβ plaque formation.

Summary: Regular aerobic exercise before and after epileptic seizures can enhance resistance to status epilepticus, reduce spontaneous motor seizures, improve memory responses, and alleviate comorbid depression in epileptic rats. Furthermore, exercise can improve markers of oxidative stress and neuroinflammation in the hippocampus, leading to increased resistance to epileptogenesis.

Summary: This study found that natural Commiphora myrrha can alleviate hepatotoxicity and oxidative stress induced by ethanol. It reduces liver function parameters, hepatic tumor markers, and hepatic lipid peroxidation indicator levels, while slightly increasing the levels of antioxidant enzymes. Moreover, it improves the histopathological changes in the liver. These results suggest that natural Commiphora myrrha has anti-inflammatory and ROS-scavenging activities, making it a promising protective and therapeutic supplement against liver injury.

Summary: The study demonstrated that long-term administration of metformin can reduce age-associated oxidative stress, improve cognitive function, increase the survival of hippocampal neurons, and enhance passive avoidance memory. This suggests that metformin intake modulates oxidant/antioxidant mechanisms to prevent hippocampal neuron loss caused by age-dependent oxidative stress while enhancing memory.

Summary: The study found that repeated exposure to 2.45 GHz radiation led to dysregulation of GCR and HSP-70 in certain brain regions, while values for these biomarkers were significantly higher in other areas. However, GFAP levels in brain tissue showed no significant differences after irradiation compared to nonirradiated animals.
