Isolation and Characterization of the C-class MADS-box Gene from the Distylous Pseudo-cereal Fagopyrum esculentum

In the model species Arabidopsis thaliana, the floral homeotic C-class gene AGAMOUS (AG) specifies reproductive organ (stamen and carpels) identity and floral meristem determinacy. Gene function analyses in other core eudicots species reveal functional conservation, subfunctionalization and function switch of the C-lineage in this clade. To identify the possible roles of AG-like genes in regulating floral development in distylous species with dimorphic flowers (pin and thrum) and the C function evolution, we isolated and identified an AG ortholog from Fagopyrum esculentum (buckwheat, Family Polygonaceae), an early diverging species of core eudicots preceding the rosids-asterids split. Protein sequence alignment and phylogenetic analysis grouped FaesAG into the euAG lineage. Expression analysis suggested that FaesAG expressed exclusively in developing stamens and gynoecium of pin and thrum flowers. Moreover, FaesAG expression reached a high level in both pin and thrum flowers at the time when the stamens were undergoing rapidly increased in size and microspore mother cells were in meiosis. FaesAG was able to substitute for the endogenous AG gene in specifying stamen and carpel identity and in an Arabidopsis ag-1 mutant. Ectopic expression of FaesAG led to very early flowering, and produced a misshapen inflorescence and abnormal flowers in which sepals had converted into carpels and petals were converted to stamens. Our results confirmed establishment of the complete C-function of the AG orthologous gene preceding the rosids-asterids split, despite the distinct floral traits present in early- and late-diverging lineages of core eudicot angiosperms.

Beyond confusion matrix: learning from multiple annotators with awareness of instance features

Consumer information technology use in the post-pandemic workplace: a post-acceptance adaptation perspective

Summary: This study examines the antecedents (i.e. characteristics of MICT) and outcomes (i.e. employee affective and cognitive well-being) of routine MICT use in the remote work context. The findings show that routine MICT use increases employee affective well-being, such as job satisfaction, and mitigates cognitive well-being issues, such as technology overload. The study also highlights the mediation effects of routine MICT use on the relationship between its characteristics and employee well-being.

Population total and unbound pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of ciprofol and M4 in subjects with various renal functions

Summary: The aim of this study was to develop a population pharmacokinetic (PK) model for ciprofol and its major metabolite M4, and link it to the population pharmacodynamics (PD) model in subjects with different renal functions. The study found that the PK of ciprofol and M4 could be best described by three-compartment and two-compartment models, respectively. The concentrations of ciprofol and M4 were linked using a linear protein binding model. Hemoglobin and uric acid were identified as covariates affecting the clearance of ciprofol and M4. The developed model provides a comprehensive understanding of the PK and PD of ciprofol.

Summary: In this study, we searched for the hyperon semileptonic decay Xi(0) -> Sigma(-)e(+)nu(e) that violates the Delta S = Delta Q rule using a data sample of (1.0087 +/- 0.0044) x 10(10) J/psi decay events collected with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy of root s = 3.097 GeV. No significant signal is observed, and the upper limit on the branching fraction B(Xi(0) -> Sigma(-)e(+)nu(e)) is determined to be 1.6 x 10(-4) at the 90% confidence level. This result improves the previous upper limit result by about one order of magnitude.

Bacteriological and oncological safety of complete laparoscopic radical resection of colorectal cancer without incision anastomosis based on propensity-matched scores

Summary: The study aimed to demonstrate the safety of complete laparoscopic radical resection of colorectal cancer without incision anastomosis in bacteriology and oncology. The study compared patients who underwent two different surgical methods and found no significant differences in bacteriological and oncological outcomes, short-term complications, and long-term prognosis between the two groups. Therefore, this incisionless laparoscopic surgery is a feasible and promising approach.

Design, synthesis and biological evaluation of highly potent and selective CYP1B1 inhibitors

Summary: In this study, a highly potent and selective CYP1B1 inhibitor C9 was obtained by structural modification, with an inhibitory activity of 2.7 nM against CYP1B1, and more than 37037 and 7407 fold selectivity over CYP1A1 and 1A2, respectively. Furthermore, C9 effectively restored the sensitivity of Taxol to A549/Taxol cells and inhibited cell migration. Molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulations showed that C9 formed necessary interactions in binding to CYP1B1 and could remain relatively stable.

Rapid Design of Deformable Mirror Based on Genetic Algorithm

Summary: This paper presents a new design method for deformable mirrors that combines a genetic algorithm and an elastic mechanics influence function analysis model to significantly increase the design efficiency of deformable mirrors. Based on this method, the structural parameters of a defocus and astigmatism-corrected deformable mirror are designed, achieving rapid design of deformable mirrors.
