Summary: A simple LC-ESI/MS method was developed to analyze oxidized products on the lipoproteins of uremic patients. 21 ox-PAPC products were identified and quantified, and significantly higher levels of these products were found in uremic patients compared to healthy controls. This method may accelerate the search for biomarkers of uremia in the future.

Summary: A simple and fast low-flow CE-MS method was developed for analyzing ox-PAPC products in human VLDLs. The method showed good repeatability and sensitivity. The levels of ox-PAPC products in uremic VLDLs were significantly higher than healthy VLDLs.

Summary: Quantum dots (QDs) are semiconductor luminescent nanocrystals with unique optical and electronic properties that make them ideal for multi-color bioimaging and cellular labeling at the molecular level. Protein-QDs conjugates are currently under research for various biomedical applications, although their interaction with human proteins may cause structural changes and potential unwanted cellular outcomes.

Summary: This study investigated the efficacy of an antioxidant cocktail in a thermosensitive hydrogel delivery system for skin wound healing. In vivo models and atomic force microscopy were used to evaluate the healing effects, demonstrating that the antioxidant cocktail can promote wound healing with strong antioxidant and antimicrobial activity.

Summary: The researchers engineered two different lipid model membranes mimicking the lipid composition of the HeLa cell plasma membrane, and studied the fusion process, finding a primary electrostatic interaction and confirming the enhancing effect of cholesterol. The results support the usefulness of the engineered model in the design of liposomes for drug delivery.

Summary: This study assessed the ability of an engineered liposomal formulation to fuse and function as a nanocarrier in cells. Physicochemical changes on the cell surface and liposome-cell membrane interactions were observed using atomic force microscopy and confocal microscopy. The results confirmed the potential of the engineered liposomal formulation as a nanocarrier.

Summary: Drug-loaded nanocarriers (NCs) can effectively improve drug delivery and targeting. Our study demonstrated that PPAR-gamma agonist NCs have a safe and significant preventive effect in ocular anti-inflammatory treatment, without affecting corneal tissue structure.

Summary: The study proposes ocular liposomal formulations loaded with baricitinib for the management of Sjogren's syndrome. The liposomal formulations showed suitable physicochemical properties for ocular administration and did not have any irritant effects on ocular tissues. The study also found that L-alpha-PC led to better permeation in the sclera, while POPE:POPG led to better permeation in the cornea.

Summary: This study investigates the interaction between super-cationic peptide dendrimers (SCPD) and membranes using biophysical and microbiological approaches. The results suggest that SCPD is associated with the surface and the hydrophobic-hydrophilic region of phospholipids, leading to cell membrane disruption and osmotic stress.
