Summary: The study investigated the gene polymorphism and expression of NRG1, DAOA, and DISC1 genes in a Han population with UHR for psychosis in China. The results showed an association between the DAOA gene variant rs3918341 and susceptibility to UHR. Additionally, the NRG1 gene was found to interact with the DAOA and DISC1 genes in UHR susceptibility. NRG1 mRNA expression was significantly downregulated in the UHR group.

Summary: Despite substantial research on the genetics of psychotic disorders, much of their genetic architecture remains unresolved. Studies investigating the association of single nucleotide polymorphisms with electroencephalographical intermediate phenotypes are currently limited to individual studies, highlighting the need for more consistent research and reporting to strengthen future meta-analyses.

Summary: The study reveals that Nrg1 haploinsufficiency primarily affects the inhibitory circuits in the cortex, leading to behavioral deficits similar to schizophrenia. The Nrg1 haploinsufficient mice exhibit symptoms resembling schizophrenia, possibly due to a decrease in inhibitory neurons, a reduction in the density of excitatory buttons, and a decrease in frequency of spontaneous inhibitory postsynaptic currents.

Summary: This study investigated molecular alterations in the hippocampus of G72/G30 transgenic (G72Tg) mice using a multi-omics approach. Proteomics analysis revealed downregulation of myelin-related proteins and NAD-dependent protein deacetylase Sirtuin-2 (Sirt2), and upregulation of presynaptic proteins and cytoskeletal protein in G72Tg mice. Metabolomics analysis showed decreased levels of nicotinate in the hippocampus of G72Tg mice. These findings shed light on the hippocampal function of the LG72 protein and its association with neuropsychiatric phenotypes.

Summary: This article introduces a new attack called Destination Advertisement Object (DAO) induction attack against the Internet of Things (IoT) standard routing protocol RPL. The attack exploits compromised nodes to periodically transmit special control messages, causing other nodes to respond and transmit unnecessary messages. This significantly increases power consumption of nodes, reduces battery life of IoT devices, and severely impacts network performance metrics such as end-to-end latency and packet delivery ratio. To counter this attack, a lightweight solution is proposed.

Summary: Sleep abnormalities, specifically reductions in sleep spindles, are early features of schizophrenia, with deficits in brain connectivity and cognitive function. This study examined sleep spindle density (SSD) differences in SZ, FEP, and FHR populations compared to healthy controls through a meta-analysis. Results showed a large effect size for SSD in patients, with illness duration significantly associated with SSD. Further research will explore the potential of SSD as a predictor for SZ or therapeutic intervention.

Summary: In this paper, the importance of platform governance is explored. The problems of centralized architecture in the metaverse or sharing economy applications, which can lead to monopoly market structures, are discussed. It is argued that open standards and blockchain-based governance can potentially address some of these issues. The governance data from the first blockchain-based virtual world is collected and empirical analysis is conducted to study voter behavior in Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs). Empirical evidence is provided to show that open standards and blockchain-based governance are necessary but not sufficient for a decentralized and neutral platform. Centralization and concentrated voting power can result in dependencies, rent extraction behavior, and hold-up problems. Therefore, producers, prosumers, and service providers must evaluate the governance structure of the platform before establishing a presence.

Summary: The study investigated the relationship between CACNA1C gene polymorphism and schizophrenia and cognitive function in the Han nationality. The results showed no significant differences in allele and genotype frequencies of the three CACNA1C gene polymorphic loci between schizophrenia patients and healthy controls. However, carriers of the rs1006737 risk allele had significantly lower delayed memory scores.

Summary: This study aimed to reveal the neurobiological characteristics of disruptive behavior disorders (DBD) by integrating individual deviation patterns from multiple imaging modalities. The results showed that DBD patients exhibited increased age-related deviations in the amygdala, suggesting a possible maturational delay. Furthermore, the study identified neural signatures associated with aggression, including the default mode network (DMN), striatum, and amygdala.

Summary: In order to identify potential novel medications for child and adolescent mental health problems, we conducted a systematic search on clinical trial databases from 2010 to 2022. We included phase 2 or 3 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of medications without regulatory approval in the US, Europe or Asia, and also RCTs of dietary interventions/probiotics. We found 234 ongoing or completed RCTs, with varying results on primary outcomes.

Summary: This study compares the cognitive and affective empathy abilities of youth with conduct disorder (CD) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and investigates the influence of comorbid Callous-Unemotional (CU) traits on empathy. Results show that the ASD group has lower parent-reported empathy scores and self-reported cognitive empathy scores, while the CD group has lower parent-reported cognitive empathy scores. However, when accounting for the influence of CU traits, deficits in affective empathy for ASD and deficits in cognitive empathy for CD were no longer found.

Summary: The study found that Mind My Mind (MMM) cognitive behavioral therapy is effective in treating common emotional and behavioral mental health problems in youth, but not all individuals respond satisfactorily to treatment. The analysis revealed that youths with any mental disorder at baseline, comorbidity, and longer duration of untreated mental health problems showed superior treatment benefits. This highlights the importance of community-based programs like MMM for youth with substantial mental health problems.

Summary: This retrospective study evaluated the benefit of different long-acting injectable (LAI) initiation strategies based on timing of behavioral and clinical events among Medicaid beneficiaries with schizophrenia. The study found that initiating LAIs prior to nonadherence to oral antipsychotics (OAPs) or occurrence of schizophrenia-related inpatient/ER visits was associated with fewer all-cause inpatient days and ER visits. Therefore, the LAI initiation strategy plays an important role in improving clinical outcomes for patients with schizophrenia.
