Three novel macrocyclic tetralactams, gunnilactam A (1), gunnilactam B (2), and gunnilactam C (3), were isolated from the submerged fermentation broth of Paecilomyces gunnii, an entomogenous fungus identified as the anamorph of Cordyceps gunnii. Their structures were determined using NMR data, HREIMS, and single-crystal X-ray crystallography. Gunnilactam A exhibited selective cytotoxic activity against human prostate cancer C42B cells with an IC50 value of 5.4 mu M.

Summary: In this study, the first siderophore, lysochelin, and its biosynthetic gene cluster were identified from Lysobacter enzymogenes. It was found that lysochelin, along with antifungal compounds HSAF and its analogues, are crucial for the disease control activity and survival of Lysobacter under oxidative stresses caused by excess iron. The production of these molecules is greatly affected by iron concentration.

Summary: In recent years, the cultivation of wild morel mushroom species has become popular in China due to their high value in terms of edibility and medicinal properties. This study used liquid-submerged fermentation to investigate the secondary metabolites of Morehella importuna and identified several new and known compounds with significant antioxidant activity. These findings shed light on the medicinal value of M. importuna and its potential as a rich source of antioxidants.
