Summary: Temperature responsive double network hydrogels with good mechanical properties and thermal responsiveness were prepared using a 3D printed mold. The hydrogel exhibited a transition from a virgin state to a steady state during thermal cycling, possibly involving the reorganization of PVA crystals. The swelling-deswelling cycles remained evident with a length change of about 13%.

Summary: A smart injectable thermo-responsive hydrogel, CSP-LB, loaded with platelet-derived growth factor-BB (PDGF-BB) and bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP-2)-functionalized MgFe-layered double hydroxide (LDH) nanosheets, was reported for highly efficient bone regeneration. The CSP-LB hydrogel exhibited excellent gelation capability and angiogenic and osteogenic properties, making it a promising minimally invasive solution for bone defect treatment.

Summary: The study focused on the thermoresponsive hydrogels formed by graft copolymers of alginate backbone and N-isopropylacrylamide/N-tert-butylacrylamide random copolymer, with the rheological properties being greatly influenced by the NtBAM hydrophobic content. Enriching the PNIPAM chains with 20 mol % NtBAM led to a significant shift in the gelation point to lower temperatures, impacting the hydrogels' behavior at different temperatures.

Summary: The study presents a molecularly imprinted nanocomposite membrane with thermo-responsive rebinding and separation performance. By utilizing a multi-level structure and photoinitiated atom transfer radical polymerization, biomolecule-imprinted sites were successfully constructed for specific recognition of ovalbumin. The MINCMs showed excellent ovalbumin rebinding capacity and stability at 37 degrees celsius, demonstrating potential for high intensity and continuous operation.

Summary: Vanadium selenium (V2Se9) nanosheets are successfully synthesized via a one-pot synthesis method with the careful selection of the solvent/surfactant. The V2Se9 nanosheets demonstrate excellent electrochemical performance as an anode for Na-ion batteries, and the intercalation and conversion mechanism of Na-storage in V2Se9 are clarified by ex situ X-ray diffraction. This work develops an effective strategy to fabricate transition metal chalcogenides for high-performance sodium storage.

Summary: In this study, a thermo-switchable Pickering emulsion was developed for temperature-controlled catalysis. Thermoresponsive Janus silica nanosheets (JNSs) with a poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) brush on one side and a chiral salen TiIV complex on the other side were prepared. The JNSs exhibited temperature-sensitive wettability switching behaviors, allowing for reversible emulsification and demulsification. The smart JNSs enabled accelerated asymmetric sulfoxidation in water, followed by quick in situ-demulsification for complete separation upon heating.

Summary: Vertical graphene (VG), an important member of the graphene family, has a wide range of applications. Plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) is the most commonly used method for producing high-quality VG. However, the relationship between the growth mode of VG and growth parameters is still not well understood, limiting the mass production of VG. In this study, the growth behavior of VG was investigated, and it was found that the growth conditions have a significant impact on VG growth. By optimizing the growth parameters, high-quality VG can be achieved.
