Summary: This study aimed to develop a validated method for characterizing the viscoelastic properties of soft tissues based on ultrasound elastography data. The viscoelastic parameters were estimated and compared to mechanical test results. The results showed that the fractional-derivative models, especially the FD-KV and FD-Maxwell models, were more effective in simulating the viscoelastic behavior of plantar soft tissue. This study has important implications for assessing the function of soft tissue and can be used as markers for diagnosis or prognosis.

Summary: Magnetorheological elastomers have great potential for various technical applications. Soft magnetic fillers show higher switching-ability compared to hard magnetic fillers in anisotropic samples. The stress values and mechanical hysteresis are generally higher for anisotropic samples, but the energy harvesting ability seems to be independent of sample anisotropy.

Summary: The effect of polyethylene glycol (PEG) flakes and titanium diborides (TB) particles on the electromechanical actuation performance of polydimethylsiloxane elastomer was investigated. Results show that the elastic modulus and relative permittivity are significantly influenced by filler contents. PEG fillers aid in maintaining low elastic modulus, whereas TB fillers increase electrical breakdown strength and dielectric loss.

Summary: Elastography researchers have utilized different rheological models to study the viscoelastic properties of soft tissues. However, it is unclear which model should be widely adopted within a theoretical framework. This study evaluated the performance of three rheological models on ex vivo bovine liver tissues and found that the KVFD model provided the most accurate representation of time and frequency data, and predicted the viscoelastic behavior of the liver accurately.

Summary: Conductive fillers play an important role in the design of electrically conductive cementitious composites, and the chemical components of the fillers influence the strength and electrical resistance of the materials. This study investigates the interfacial properties of graphite particles, steel slags, and ground granulated blast furnace slag in the composites at the molecular level, and proposes a hybrid mixing design to balance the mechanical and conductive performance.

Summary: This study evaluated the maintenance of the lifting effect of hyaluronic acid filler injection and found that the filler showed good maintenance in the forehead, temple area, nose, chin, nasojugal fold, and mid-cheek groove areas, while the nasolabial fold slightly improved. The appropriate rheological parameters of the filler should be considered before injection, as a good choice can result in a good aesthetic effect 1 year after injection.

Summary: Polymeric PVA-based composite hydrogels were fabricated with gellan gum (GG) and their rheological and tribological properties were investigated. Increasing the concentration of GG enhanced the storage modulus of the hydrogels, making them suitable for cartilage regeneration applications. Furthermore, the addition of GG reduced the friction coefficient, increasing the chance of survival under mechanical shear stresses.

Summary: This study reveals that the viscosity of microgels is influenced by the type and concentration of crosslinkers, with OEGDA-crosslinked microgels showing higher viscosity at high concentrations, while MBA-crosslinked microgels exhibit higher yield stress. Additionally, the microgel suspensions follow hard sphere models up to a certain effective volume fraction, and NMR measurements confirm the differences in crosslinking distribution between the two types of crosslinkers.

Summary: This study investigated the rheological properties and adhesion characteristics of foamed CRA binder. The optimal foaming conditions for different crumb rubber powder (CRP) content and foaming agent were determined. Dynamic shear rheometer (DSR) tests were carried out to evaluate the high temperature performance, temperature sensitivity, and viscoelastic characteristics of each asphalt binder sample before and after aging. The adhesion characteristics of each sample were evaluated using surface free energy theory. The results showed that increasing the CRP content improved the high temperature performance and adhesion of foamed CRA binder, while reducing its temperature sensitivity. Foaming agent B had an effect on the temperature sensitivity and high temperature performance, but not on adhesion.

Summary: HACC, synthesized by reacting chitosan with glycidyl trimethylammonium chloride, forms a non-Newtonian pseudoplastic fluid in solution, with thixotropy highly dependent on concentration changes. Dynamic viscoelasticity tests show that HACC exhibits both viscous behavior similar to a fluid and elastic properties of weak gel.

Summary: In this study, gelatin-based composite gels modified with sesame seed protein and oleosomes were examined for their viscoelastic and textural properties. The addition of oleosomes resulted in an increase in the storage modulus, loss modulus, and complex viscosity of the gels. The composite gels with a higher percentage of oleosomes showed solid behavior and exhibited potential applications in various food products.

Summary: Reducing the density of particleboards for use in the furniture industry by using expanded polystyrene and microspheres as modifiers has been studied in this paper. The results showed that the use of EPS had the most satisfactory effect, and further research on using Expancel-type fillers is recommended. The novelty of this research lies in using previously unused microspheres as fillers in wood-based panels.

Summary: This study identified necroptosis-related genes (NRGs) in soft tissue sarcomas (STSs) and found their potential role in prognosis. The results showed that the risk score based on the necroptosis-related gene signature could serve as an independent prognostic factor and could also predict immune infiltration. Furthermore, the necroptosis-related gene signature was validated in other malignancies, indicating its potential as a prognostic indicator in different types of cancer.
