Summary: This study identified anti-leukemic metabolites from marine-derived bacteria, with the fermentation broth extract of Streptomyces sp. LY1209 showing potent anti-proliferative effects against acute lymphoblastic leukemia cells. The major constituents were staurosporine and a series of diketopiperazines (DKPs), including a novel DKP, which were identified for the first time in nature.

Summary: Two new marine actinobacteria, belonging to the genus Streptomyces and Kineosporia, respectively, were isolated from a coral collected in Thailand. These strains showed high similarity to known strains but had distinct morphological and chemotaxonomical characteristics. Comparative genome analysis revealed significant differences between these strains and closely related species, leading to the proposal of two new species.
