Summary: The assessment of Mamba (MM) ores showed that adding hydrated lime improved granule morphology, strength, and bed permeability. Additionally, both blends had similar sintering characteristics, but as coke addition increased, the sinter return ratio needed to decrease to achieve balance in sinter return.

Summary: This study demonstrates the use of laser irradiation to promote electrically conductive pathways on the surface of insulator materials by converting hematite into magnetite. The optimized laser processing parameters resulted in magnetite pathways with widths of 218 +/- 8 µm and depths of 66 +/- 2 µm. This research shows the potential of laser technology to transform insulating materials into conductive ones for future ceramic sensor applications.

Summary: A systematic analysis was conducted on industrial iron ore sinter product and associated sinter returns, characterizing the major macro- and micro-structural types. The correlation between mechanical sinter strength and sinter microstructure was found, particularly in materials with high porosity and isolated hematite grains. The formation of microstructure types was explained by non-equilibrium solidification in the Fe2O3-Al2O3-CaO-SiO2 system.

Summary: This research aims to upgrade indigenous Pakistani iron ore through common metallurgical processes. Magnetic properties of the ore were determined, and high-temperature reduction roasting process and magnetic separation process were used to increase the iron concentration. Results showed that the iron concentration increased from 34 wt. % to 56 wt. % at 900°C temperature, coal-to-ore ratio of 20 wt. %, and 2 hours of reduction time, and magnetic properties were induced.

Summary: In this study, a microwave-assisted suspension magnetization roasting technology was proposed to recover and utilize oolitic hematite. The results showed that microwave pretreatment increased the iron grade and recovery of the magnetic concentrate. Microcracks formed during pretreatment promoted the selective transformation of weak magnetic hematite into strong magnetic magnetite.

Summary: The drying and roasting behavior of iron ore pellets were compared between microwave heating and conventional heating. The results showed that microwave heating significantly reduced the dehydration time of green pellets and improved the compressive strength of dried pellets with organic binders. Microwave heating also enhanced the oxidation of magnetite and the crystallization of newly formed hematite grains during the pellet-roasting process, resulting in higher compressive strength of sintered pellets.

Summary: The presence of original magnetite in iron ores can improve the reduction efficiency of the ore after magnetization roasting, leading to increased iron grade and recovery rates. Using laser scanning confocal microscopy, it was observed that microcracks generated from lump ore surfaces and the edges of magnetite and hematite are directly related to the enhanced ore reduction efficiency.

Summary: Sinter quality is crucial for stable blast furnace operation, with strength and reducibility depending on mineral composition and texture. The CSIRO's OIA software Mineral4/Recognition4 has a textural identification module that can discriminate various textures/morphologies of the same mineral, allowing for detailed examination of iron ore sinters. The software's capabilities show high correlation with manual and other analysis methods, indicating its potential for deep understanding of sinter properties.

Summary: The study investigated phase transformations of natural and synthetic hematite under the influence of microwave radiation in Fe (II)-containing aqueous medium at temperatures ranging from room temperature to 260 degrees C and pressure of 6 MPa. The saturation magnetization of samples significantly increased to 27 A.m(2)/kg after phase transformations, showing transformation into magnetite.Furthermore, the high saturation magnetization of the obtained magnetic particles opens up promising applications in various fields such as adsorbents for radioactive waste and carriers for magnetic drug targeting.
