Summary: This study aimed to assess the impact of the phosphodiesterase-5-inhibitor tadalafil on right ventricular systolic function in adults with congenital heart disease and systemic right ventricles. The results showed that after 3 years of therapy, tadalafil did not significantly change the right ventricular end-systolic volume. Further research is needed to find effective treatment for improvement of ventricular function in these patients.

Summary: This study found that PDE5 inhibitors can improve cardiac remodeling in male patients with diabetic cardiomyopathy, but not in female patients. Additionally, the use of this inhibitor also improves cardiovascular, metabolic, immune, and renal function in both sexes. However, further research is still needed to confirm whether Klotho and hsa-miR-199-5p are markers for T2DM complications.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness and safety of pentoxifylline as an adjuvant to risperidone in mitigating the negative symptoms in patients with chronic schizophrenia. The results showed that pentoxifylline adjunctive therapy had a significant effect in reducing PANSS-negative subscale scores, PANSS general psychopathology subscale scores, and PANSS total scores. Furthermore, it also led to an increase in cAMP serum level and a decrease in TNF-alpha and IL-6 serum levels.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effects of high-dose tadalafil on type 2 diabetes. The study found that high-dose tadalafil did not decrease whole-body insulin resistance, but it improved microcirculation, liver steatosis, and metabolic control. However, this treatment was moderately tolerated and larger trials are needed to determine the optimal treatment regimen.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the clinical outcomes of using the PDE-5 inhibitor tadalafil 5 mg OD for the management of chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS). The results showed that tadalafil significantly improved the symptoms in various domains of CP/CPPS compared to placebo. Approximately 50.8% of patients in the tadalafil group showed clinically significant improvement. However, there was weak correlation between tadalafil-induced changes in IIEF-5 scores and the improvement in quality of life.

Summary: The TADAFER II study is a trial that aims to investigate the efficacy of tadalafil in early-onset fetal growth restriction. The previous open-label study showed the possibility of prolonging the pregnancy period, but further evidence is needed. Therefore, a multicentre, randomised, placebo-controlled, double-blind trial will be conducted.

Summary: In this study, a comparison was made between [N-13]-ammonia-PET and cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) in evaluating left ventricular volumes and function. The results indicate that LVEF and LV wall motion can be accurately assessed using [N-13]-ammonia-PET, although LV volumes are significantly underestimated compared to CMR.

Summary: The study validated a respiratory motion correction method called focused navigation (fNAV) for free-running radial whole-heart 4D flow MRI. Using fNAV, respiratory signals were converted into three orthogonal displacements to correct respiratory motion. The difference between generated and fNAV displacement coefficients was calculated and compared to the motion-free ground-truth. Results showed that fNAV corrected respiratory motion and improved 4D flow measurements compared to uncorrected datasets.

Summary: This study compares the mortality rates of different types of severe aortic stenosis (high-gradient, classical low-flow low-gradient, and paradoxical low-flow low-gradient) after transcatheter aortic valve implantation. The results show that patients with paradoxical low-flow low-gradient aortic stenosis have lower mortality rates than patients with classical low-flow low-gradient, but higher mortality rates than those with high-gradient.

Summary: This study indicates that arrhythmias are common in adult patients with dextro-transposition of the great arteries (D-TGA) and atrial switch surgery, and associated rhythm interventions are frequent. Approximately half of these patients experience arrhythmias, with 10% not surviving until the age of 35 without left ventricular assist device or heart transplantation, and the prognosis is worse in patients with concomitant ventricular septum defect.

Summary: This paper presents the results of the first joint survey on the use of SPECT and PET myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) and cardiac amyloidosis imaging in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland of the year 2021. The survey collected data from nuclear medicine centers through questionnaires and analyzed the differences among the three countries in terms of MPI imaging. The results showed that Switzerland had outstanding use of PET MPI and leading camera equipment, followed by Austria and Germany. Despite procedural differences, the overall standard of MPI imaging was high.

Summary: This study compared the prognostic value of invasive coronary angiography (ICA) and coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) in predicting long-term vital prognosis post-revascularization in patients with coronary artery disease. Summary: This study aims to determine the prevalence of ATTR-CM in elderly patients with severe aortic stenosis and evaluate the differences in clinical presentation and outcomes of patients with concomitant ATTR-CM undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation. The results showed that ATTR-CM was observed in 10.8% of patients with severe aortic stenosis, and elderly age, male sex, and prior carpal tunnel surgery were associated with the coexistence of ATTR-CM. However, there were no significant differences in peri-interventional risk and one-year clinical outcomes between patients with concomitant pathologies.
