Summary: This study evaluated the feasibility of using clinicopathological characteristics and CT morphological features to predict lymph node metastasis in patients with T1 colorectal cancer. The presence of necrosis, irregular outer border, and heterogeneity enhancement, as well as tumor location, were found to be independent risk factors for predicting lymph node metastasis. These findings can assist doctors in making decisions about additional surgery after endoscopic resection.

Summary: The study showed that plasma Hsp90 alpha levels were significantly higher in colorectal cancer patients and were associated with disease progression, certain tumor biomarkers, and immune cells. However, plasma Hsp90 alpha failed to demonstrate a prognostic value in progression-free survival for colorectal cancer.

Summary: Lung cancer has high morbidity and mortality rates, with tumor metastasis being a significant risk factor for death. Even after complete removal of a tumor at an early stage, there is still a risk of recurrence. Lymph node micrometastasis has been found to be associated with poor prognosis, but predicting prognosis and choosing the appropriate surgical and postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy options remain challenging for clinicians.

Summary: In this retrospective study, it was found that a metastatic lymph node (MLN) diameter greater than 1.05 cm may indicate a poorer prognosis and lower survival rate in patients with stage III colorectal cancer (CRC). Therefore, the MLN diameter may be an important indicator for predicting the prognosis of CRC.

Summary: This study evaluated the ability of serum monosaccharides to predict lymph node metastasis and prognosis in colorectal cancer patients. The results showed that high levels of serum mannose and galactose were associated with lymph node metastasis, and mannose performed better than carcinoembryonic antigen in predicting lymph node metastasis. Histologic grade, lymphovascular invasion, CEA, and mannose levels were identified as independent risk factors for lymph node metastasis. Additionally, high serum mannose was associated with poor prognosis in colorectal cancer patients.

Summary: Tumor budding (TB), a powerful predictor of colorectal cancer (CRC), was studied to develop a prediction model for lymph node metastasis (LNM) and local recurrence in pT1 CRC patients. Independent predictors for LNM and recurrence were identified and used to construct predictive nomograms for treatment decision-making. The models showed potential clinical application value and postoperative chemotherapy was associated with better outcomes in high-risk patients.

Summary: Non-coding RNAs, previously considered as non-functional, have been found to play a critical role in various cancers and have potential as clinical biomarkers. Among them, microRNAs are extensively studied as liquid biopsy biomarkers. High-throughput sequencing technology allows comprehensive characterization of non-coding RNA expression profiles in different cancers. Technological advancements have also made it possible to identify previously unrecognized biomarkers in cancer patients.

Summary: We established a miRNA-based liquid biopsy signature that can reliably predict early recurrence in gastric cancer patients by analyzing miRNA expression profiling. Additionally, a model combining the miRNA signature, microsatellite instability (MSI) status, and tumor size exhibited better predictive performance and was successfully validated in another independent cohort. Finally, we translated the miRNA signature into a liquid biopsy assay and demonstrated its independence as a predictor for early recurrence.

Summary: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a highly lethal cancer due to its resistance to chemotherapy, including Gemcitabine (Gem). This study aimed to investigate whether the natural botanical Andrographis (Andro) can reverse Gem resistance in PDAC cells. The findings suggest that Andro can enhance the anti-cancer potential of Gem by regulating the ERBB3 and calcium signaling pathways.

Summary: This study demonstrates that the combination of Curcumin and Lenvatinib exhibits synergistic anti-tumor efficacy in Lenvatinib-resistant HCC cell lines. Curcumin reverses Lenvatinib resistance through inhibition of the EGFR pathway. These findings suggest that the combination therapy has potential clinical application for adjunctive treatment in HCC.

Summary: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a major cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Limitations of current CRC chemotherapeutic drugs include toxicity, side effects, and high costs. In this study, a combination of curcumin and andrographis showed superior anti-tumor effects in CRC cells by inhibiting cell proliferation, invasion, colony formation, and inducing apoptosis. The combination treatment also activated the ferroptosis pathway and downregulated the expression of GPX-4 and FSP-1, leading to accumulation of reactive oxygen species and lipid peroxides in CRC cells.
