Summary: The objective of this study was to evaluate the short-term evolution of pain and the treatment success of full pulpotomy as permanent treatment for irreversible pulpitis. The results showed that there was no significant difference between full pulpotomy and root canal treatment in terms of short-term pain evolution, clinical success, and global success. However, there was a significant difference in radiographic success. This study adds to the existing literature supporting the use of pulpotomy as an acceptable and conservative treatment option for a larger population of dentists.

Summary: Tusk fractures in elephants can lead to various outcomes, from self-healing to life-threatening infection. A survey of global elephant veterinarians revealed that larger pulp canal diameter at the time of fracture and the use of tap water during treatment increase the risk of infected and inflamed pulp. Endodontic treatment reduced the risk of tusk extraction. These findings can guide clinical decision making for elephant managers and clinicians.

Summary: This study evaluated the impact of root canal preparation in teeth with ultraconservative access cavities on the development of dentinal microcracks using nondestructive longitudinal micro-CT imaging. The results showed that regardless of the access cavity and instrumentation system, root canal preparation did not create new dentinal microcracks.

Summary: This study aimed to examine the common problems faced by the senior author in face lifts due to previous minimally invasive procedures and demonstrate the methods used to solve them. Among the 552 face lift patients analyzed, 207 had undergone minimally invasive procedures before. The problems frequently encountered included cheek fat atrophy, scar tissue formation, and the use of large-volume injectables. Surgeons need to be trained to evaluate and address these problems during a face lift.

Summary: Regenerative endodontic procedures and minimally invasive endodontics are important methods for treating immature necrotic permanent teeth. They promote root maturation and preserve tooth structure. However, finding better disinfecting agents and strategies, as well as improving existing treatment protocols, are crucial for achieving optimal outcomes.

Summary: With the advancements in minimally invasive biomarkers in kidney transplantation, new strategies for monitoring allograft health are emerging. However, the current available data does not support the use of blood and urine-based biomarkers as stand-alone diagnostic tests. More studies are needed to evaluate their ability to distinguish different types of rejection and serve as adjuncts to histology, in order to elevate these biomarkers to diagnostic tests.

Summary: This study reviewed failed cases after regenerative endodontic procedures (REPs) and proposed a treatment algorithm to assist clinical decision-making. The primary reasons for treatment failure were persistent infection and root resorption. Consideration of the treatability of the tooth, accessibility to the canal, and the presence of an apical seat were identified as key factors in obtaining successful outcomes in clinical decision-making.

Summary: This paper introduces a novel approach called surgical process modelling, which aims to simplify the challenges in improving surgeries by quantitatively analyzing surgical activities. The approach is applied to analyze different Minimally Invasive Liver Treatments (MILTs) and a generic surgical process model is introduced. The model is established at three different granularity levels and includes all surgical and interventional activities, providing a foundation for extensive quantitative analysis and simulations.

Summary: Endodontic therapy aims to preserve teeth by preventing and treating apical disease. Traditional treatment outcome reporting focuses on clinician-reported outcomes (CROs), while patient-reported outcomes (PROs) are less commonly employed. This lack of consensus in outcome reporting leads to heterogeneity, which hinders meta-analysis, guidelines development, and clinical decision making. The establishment of a core outcome set (COS) in endodontics can reduce these effects.

Summary: The promotion of minimally invasive treatments focused on maintaining pulp vitality is a priority in endodontics. This review discusses the outcomes of partial and full pulpotomy procedures and analyzes various factors that influence the results. Current evidence suggests that age, gender, tooth type, and intraoperative pulpal hemorrhage do not significantly impact the outcome, while factors such as caries depth, pulp inflammation, capping materials, and restoration integrity may affect the success. Further experimental research is needed to definitively determine the success of pulpotomy procedures.

Summary: Exciting opportunities exist within regenerative endodontics for the development of targeted biomaterials that harness epigenetic machinery to control pulpitis and stimulate repair. In this study, small RNA sequencing and bioinformatic analysis were used to establish a miRNA expression profile for mineralising dental pulp cells (DPCs) and examine their interaction with histone deacetylase inhibitors and DNA methyltransferase inhibitors. The results showed that these inhibitors induced mineralisation but reduced cell growth, suggesting an increased and dynamic interaction between miRNA and epigenetic modifiers during DPC reparative processes.

Summary: This opinion-led review paper emphasizes the importance of innovative translational research in vital-pulp-treatment (VPT) and discusses the challenges in implementing evidence in clinics. The traditional dentistry approach, which is expensive and invasive, lacks a biological perspective. Recent research focuses on developing minimally-invasive biologically-based 'fillings' that preserve dental pulp and shift the paradigm towards smart restorations targeting biological processes. The potential use of histone-deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors in stimulating pro-regenerative effects and enhancing biomaterial-driven tissue responses in VPT is analyzed in this article.

Summary: This study aimed to identify and explain the main sources of stress among preclinical and clinical dental undergraduate students, with a specific focus on stressors related to endodontics. The results showed that performance pressure, workload, and clinical training were the most stressful areas for students in all years. In early years, endodontic students experienced stress related to self-efficacy beliefs, endodontic clinical training, and faculty and administration. In later years, the stress came from endodontic patient treatment, performance pressure in endodontics, and clinical training. Qualitative analysis revealed that patients and COVID-19 played important roles in student stress.

Summary: This review discusses the implications of root anatomy, pulp chamber, and canals on pulpotomy and revitalization procedures. Pulpotomy procedures can avoid the challenges faced during root canal treatment, but a meticulous understanding of pulp chamber anatomy is required. The complex relationship between the root canal system and outcomes of revitalization procedures in necrotic multi-rooted teeth with mature roots needs further research.
