Summary: In this study, a dual-networked composite hydrogel was developed to regulate the sequential differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stromal cells (BMSCs) according to the endochondral ossification (ECO) mechanism. The hydrogel, composed of gelatin and hyaluronic acid, released chondroitin sulfate (CS) and magnesium/silicon (Mg/Si) ions in a sequential manner to guide the differentiation of BMSCs towards chondrogenesis, angiogenesis, and osteogenesis. In vitro and in vivo evaluations demonstrated that this hydrogel created an optimal microenvironment for embedded BMSCs to respond to the sequential guiding signals, promoting bone regeneration.

Summary: This paper presents a multi-modal emotion database (MED4) containing various signals recorded from participants when influenced by video stimuli. The performance of baseline algorithms and emotion recognition methods are evaluated, and fusion strategies are designed to improve accuracy and robustness. EEG signals outperform speech signals in emotion recognition, and fusion methods further enhance recognition performance in noisy environments.

Summary: The eruption of the Tonga volcano released a large amount of energy, causing variations in geophysical parameters. By utilizing space-borne and ground-based sensors, this study comprehensively analyzes the tropospheric response, sea surface temperature, surface deformation, and ionospheric reaction. The results reveal the characteristics of each parameter and provide a better understanding of the impacts of the volcanic event.

Summary: In this study, the consumption or prevalence of acesulfame, caffeine, paracetamol and amantadine in Hebei province, China was estimated using wastewater-based epidemiology. A multi-parameter population model was established to improve population estimation accuracy, showing high correlations and low variation compared to census data. The estimated results were consistent with previous research and sales data calculations, demonstrating the feasibility and potential for lower uncertainties in population estimation using a multi-parameter population model.

Summary: In this study, we utilize the selective area epitaxy method to deterministically engineer thousands of microring lasers on a single chip. By elucidating a detailed growth mechanism and controlling the adatom diffusion lengths, we achieve ultrasmooth cavity sidewalls. These engineered devices exhibit a tunable emission wavelength in the telecommunication O-band and show low-threshold lasing with high device efficacy across the chip. This work marks a significant milestone toward the implementation of a fully integrated III-V materials platform for next-generation high-density integrated photonic and optoelectronic circuits.

Summary: This study investigated the use of surfactant in low-volume concentrated MWCNT-water nanofluid for effective heat transfer in solar parabolic collector applications. It was found that a higher volume concentration of MWCNT in water enhances the surface area interaction between water and MWCNT nanoparticles, resulting in maximum efficiency of the solar parabolic collector.
