Summary: Strategic imitation refers to the intentional efforts made by firms to replicate other firms' products, processes, capabilities, technologies, structures, or decisions for the purpose of gaining competitive advantage. Imitation is a common behavior in firms, and the study of imitation is rapidly expanding. However, existing research on imitation is limited by certain assumptions, such as the ease of imitation, imitation by weak firms, the promotion of imitation by uncertainty, and the existence of only one imitation strategy. In light of emerging counterassumptions, a new conceptual model of imitation focusing on evolutionary dynamics is proposed.
