Summary: The study collected over a hundred samples of plant debris from various freshwater locations in Spain and identified six new fungal species. Morphological comparison and phylogenetic analysis revealed that three strains belong to the family Didymellaceae and the remaining three strains belong to the family Phaeosphaeriaceae. The discovery of these new taxa significantly increases the number of coelomycetous fungi described from freshwater habitats.

Summary: During the investigation of microfungi from decaying wood in Sichuan Province, several novel fungal taxa of asexual and sexual morphs related to Pleosporales were discovered. Phylogenetic analyses based on gene sequences suggested that these new taxa were distributed in five families and justified the establishment of six new taxa. Among them, Neoangustimassarina was introduced as the second sexual morph genus in Amorosiaceae, and Bambusicola guttulata, O. sichuanensis and P. bambusicola contributed to the diversity of bambusicolous fungi. Detailed descriptions and notes for each new taxon, as well as a brief note for each family, were provided, along with a discussion on the potential richness of fungal diversity in Sichuan Province.

Summary: The drug resistance of filamentous fungi to antifungal agents is a major concern in medicine. This study investigated the effectiveness of AuNPs synthesized using Mentha piperita against multi-drug resistant Aspergillus species. The results show that these nanoparticles do not possess particularly effective antifungal properties, but they did inhibit some fungal isolates and caused significant alterations in the extracellular enzyme activity of the nosocomial fungi.

Summary: A novel species of entomopathogenic fungi, Cordyceps poluscapitis, was discovered on ants in Guizhou Province, China. It exhibits both sexual and asexual morphology, characterized by brightly colored, fleshy stromata and long, filiform ascospores. Additionally, this unique species parasitizes ants and produces conidia with multiple septa. Phylogenetic analysis based on sequence data of 6-loci genes (ITS, SSU, LSU, TEF, RPB1 and RPB2) confirmed it as a new species in Cordyceps.
