Summary: This study demonstrates the importance of assessing dietary measures in addition to anthropometric data for evaluating child undernutrition. It found that a significant proportion of children with dietary failure were not identified as having anthropometric failures, and over half of the children had discordant results between dietary and anthropometric measures. Dietary intervention could double the proportion of children in need of nutritional support compared to anthropometry alone.

Summary: This study assesses the impact of small-scale irrigation on household and women's dietary diversity, as well as children's nutrition in Ethiopia and Tanzania. The results show that small-scale irrigation has a positive effect on women's dietary diversity and household dietary diversity, especially among households facing drought. Additionally, children in irrigating households have higher weight-for-height z-scores compared to nonirrigating households.

Summary: The study found that children whose mothers received four or more prenatal care visits, were delivered at a health facility, and had a professionally trained delivery assistant had better dietary diversity, minimum dietary diversity, and consumption of seven food groups. Additionally, efforts should be encouraged to provide nutritional education during antenatal care and delivery, especially for mothers seeking care outside of a health facility.
