Summary: This scoping review aimed to examine interventions to improve or maintain nutrition and physical activity-related outcomes in adults with or without cardiometabolic risk. It identified a wide range of literature, including recent studies on mobile applications and ergogenic aids. While there is abundant research on individual-level counseling or coaching from dietitians/nutritionists and exercise practitioners, the need for systematic reviews on these interventions is highlighted for informing practice.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the impact of physical activity and diet quality on cardiovascular morbidity in German women with Turner syndrome (TS). The results showed that failure to achieve <600 Metabolic Equivalent-minutes per week for recreational activities was significantly associated with the presence of arterial hypertension. Only 20.5% of TS women had high adherence to the Mediterranean diet, which tended to be inversely associated with the presence of lipid metabolism disorders.

Summary: Studies on nutritional factors and physical activity in the development of multiple sclerosis have gained increasing interest. Mediterranean diet has shown positive effects on MS, while caution is needed due to potential side effects. Physical activity has positive effects on disease progression and patient outcomes, with combined exercises considered more effective.

Summary: This study evaluated and compared the impacts of diet and physical activity on women's cancer mortality using data from the NHANES III. A healthful diet was associated with lower cancer mortality, even after adjusting for obesity, inflammation, and other covariates. Diet may play a stronger role in reducing cancer mortality in women than physical activity.

Summary: The study found that many pregnant women did not receive advice on physical activity, gestational weight gain, and nutrition. Women with weight problems were less likely to be targeted for counseling, although the majority viewed receiving information on these topics positively. Verbalization of the weight problem was associated with a greater chance of receiving information about physical activity, gestational weight gain, and nutrition.

Summary: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) patients can improve weight, hormonal, and metabolic parameters by adopting a very-low-calorie ketogenic diet (VLCKD) or Mediterranean diet (MD). VLCKD has better effects on BMI, body circumference, and hormone index compared to MD, and can reduce the risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS).

Summary: Recently, sedentary behavior recommendations have been included in public health guidelines of multiple countries, indicating the potential for preventing chronic diseases and initiating long-term behavior change. This paper proposes an evidence-based approach to physical activity counseling that focuses on reducing sedentary time. The authors suggest a stepwise approach to targeting sedentary behavior in clinical practice, particularly for highly sedentary individuals or those with chronic diseases or physical impairments. The findings emphasize the importance of addressing sedentary behavior as the first step towards promoting an active lifestyle.

Summary: This study investigated food handling concerns and practices among Chicago residents during the COVID-19 pandemic, and found that food insecure participants were more concerned about COVID-19 foodborne transmission and engaged in unsafe food handling practices more frequently. Summary: Circulating melatonin is elevated in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and altered patterns of melatonin excretion may be associated with reduced sleep quality in these women. This study found that women with PCOS had lower weekend sleep efficiency compared to controls, and the number of follicles per ovary was positively associated with overnight melatonin levels. These findings suggest that PCOS diagnostic features are related to melatonin production and sleep disturbances.

Summary: This study aims to identify automatically detectable features that predict overeating and build clusters of eating episodes based on social and psychological features. It involves a 14-day observational study with 60 obese adults, using sensors and ecological momentary assessments to collect data. Machine learning methods will be applied to analyze the features and generate clusters. This study is expected to provide new insights into the determinants of overeating.

Summary: This study explored the associations between cancer beliefs and health behavior engagement in cancer survivors, particularly focusing on those with overweight and obesity. The results showed that engagement in healthier behaviors among survivors with overweight or obesity was related to feeling less overwhelmed by cancer risk recommendations and believing that physical activity or obesity influences cancer development. Additionally, obesity altered the associations between cancer risk beliefs and health behavior engagement in the overall sample.
