Summary: This study aimed to summarize the safety profile of medications used to treat migraine during pregnancy, and found that triptans do not increase the risk of pregnancy outcomes compared to the general population. Further research is needed to assess the safety of other migraine medications.

Summary: HPV infection, commonly transmitted through direct contact of infected organs, is a prevalent sexually transmitted infection posing a high risk to young women, potentially leading to various malignancies. Recent studies have also shown harmful effects of HPV infection on pregnancy outcomes, including adverse conditions such as preterm birth, intrauterine growth restriction, and fetal death.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the clinical outcomes of Day 7 frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET). The results showed that the clinical pregnancy and live birth rates were lower for Day 7 blastocysts compared to Day 5 and Day 6 blastocysts, but it still had value for transfer. Preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) for Day 7 blastocysts may reduce ineffective transfers and improve the outcome of the transfer.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of the interval time between HSG and IUI on the live birth rates of infertile patients. The results showed that the clinical pregnancy and live birth rates were the highest when the interval time was less than 6 months. Therefore, IUI should be recommended as soon as possible after HSG if the patient couple meets the IUI indication.

Summary: The study concluded that genital mycoplasma infection is not a risk factor for spontaneous preterm birth, even when combined with other abnormal vaginal microbiota. The presence of bacterial vaginosis did not increase the risk of preterm birth in pregnant women with mycoplasma infection.

Summary: In sub-Saharan Africa, pregnant women on average gain inadequate weight (6.6 kg) over pregnancy, with the most significant weight gain occurring in the second and third trimesters. Women with higher education and from wealthier households tend to have higher gestational weight gain. Recent data does not show significant improvements in gestational weight gain in sub-Saharan Africa.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the impact of prepregnancy overweight on treatment modalities and pregnancy outcomes in gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). The results showed that an increased BMI in pregnant women was associated with a higher likelihood of needing glucose lowering medication and an increased risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes.

Summary: The study found that the restriction measures implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic had an impact on pregnancy duration and outcome. Pregnant women exposed to the measures had a lower rate of preterm birth, especially those with a history of preterm birth, and there was no increase in stillbirth rate.

Summary: This update of a review including 25 randomized controlled trials found that zinc supplementation may have little to no significant impact on reducing the risks of preterm birth and stillbirth, with unclear effects on neonatal death. Additionally, it may have little to no impact on mean birthweight and the risk of low birthweight or small-for-gestational age babies.

Summary: The study indicates that micronutrient deficiencies are common during pregnancy in women after RYGB and SG, with zinc and selenium deficiencies being more pronounced in the RYGB group. Selenium deficiency is negatively correlated with birth weight, highlighting the importance of micronutrient monitoring in post-bariatric surgery women to reduce the risk of inadequate fetal growth.

Summary: Metabolic disorders and maternal diet can impact nutrient availability in utero, leading to adaptations in offspring. This study found that snack intake tended to exacerbate glucose intolerance in pregnant STZ-treated rats, resulting in fewer pups being born. Further research is needed to investigate the long-term behavioral and metabolic outcomes of offspring.

Summary: This article reviews the recent studies on the effects of advanced parental age on pregnancy outcomes and birth defects. The studies suggest that advanced parental age can have adverse effects on both pregnancy outcomes and birth defects in offspring. The article also discusses the impact of assisted reproduction technology (ART) on fertility in advanced age.
