Summary: Recent studies have revealed the importance of GAS5 in human cancers. GAS5 interacts with miRNAs and other functional proteins to regulate proliferation, invasion, and apoptosis in tumors. Decreased expression levels of GAS5 in tumor tissues are associated with increased malignancy, poor prognosis, and drug resistance.

Summary: Glioma, the most common malignant central nervous system tumor, presents challenges due to incomplete understanding of molecular pathways in tumor progression. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are implicated in various stages of glioma development and hold potential for diagnostic and therapeutic applications. Evaluating lncRNAs' roles in tumor progression, molecular pathways, and clinical relevance is essential for advancing novel therapeutic strategies.

Summary: This study evaluated the diagnostic value of selected lncRNAs from the TANRIC thyroid cancer dataset. The results showed that certain candidate lncRNAs had significantly increased or decreased expression levels in malignant nodules. The combination of LRRC52-AS1, LINC02082, and UNC5B-AS1 showed promising diagnostic results in fine needle aspiration samples.

Summary: LINC00958, a long non-coding RNA highly expressed in various malignancies, plays a role in enhancing tumor cells' resistance to radiotherapy and chemotherapy, inducing lymphangiogenesis, and facilitating tumor glycolytic metabolism. Additionally, LINC00958 acts as a ceRNA and regulates the malignant behavior of tumor cells through the miRNA-mRNA axis, showcasing potential as a novel biomarker and therapeutic target in cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Summary: This study found that long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) GAS5 is downregulated in colon cancer cell lines resistant to 5-fluorouracil (5-FU). GAS5 downregulation decreased the viability of HCT116 cells and the level of the pro-apoptotic protein BAX, while GAS5 overexpression promoted cell death in response to 5-FU. GAS5 promoted cell death by interfering with miR-128-3p-mediated BAX downregulation, suggesting that GAS5 overexpression in chemo-resistant cancer cells may improve the efficacy of anti-cancer drugs.

Summary: The study showed that higher expression of TTN-AS1 was associated with poorer DFS in BC patients, especially in those who underwent Re-TURBT. Knocking down TTN-AS1 could inhibit the proliferation and invasion abilities of BC cells. ATF2 may act as a downstream target of TTN-AS1 in BC, and high expression of ATF2 is also related to adverse DFS in patients.

Summary: New research has shown that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play crucial roles in various biological processes, including the development of complex human diseases like cancer. Although the specific regulation mechanisms of many lncRNAs in cancer are still unknown, a few have been identified. This study provides a summary of recent advances in understanding the mechanisms and functions of lncRNAs in cancer, with a focus on their roles as oncogenes and tumor suppressors, as well as their potential use as biomarkers for cancer diagnosis and prognosis.

Summary: The study found no overall association between the GAS5 rs145204276 polymorphism and cancer risk, but did find a significant 22% decreased risk of gastrointestinal cancer associated with the del allele. Both sensitivity and trial sequential analyses confirmed the reliability of the subgroup results, with the False-Positive Report Probability indicating significant correlations.
