Summary: A novel HA-related circRNA, circHYBID, was identified as a potential regulator of HA metabolism in chondrocytes, promoting HA synthesis and accumulation. The circHYBID-hsa-miR-29b-3p-TGF-beta 1 axis plays a crucial role in cartilage inflammation and OA progression, suggesting circHYBID as a promising target for OA therapy.

Summary: This study identified a significant role for exosomal circRNA_0001236 in chondrogenic differentiation, promoting cartilage-specific gene and protein expression through the miR-3677-3p/Sox9 axis. Overexpression of exosomal circRNA_0001236 may alleviate cartilage degradation, suppress OA progression, and enhance cartilage repair, suggesting a potentially effective therapeutic strategy for treating OA.

Summary: This study aimed to identify miRNA biomarkers for the progression of melanoma. Differentially expressed miRNAs between different stages of melanoma were analyzed and a miRNA-gene network was constructed. Prognostic miRNAs were identified, and clustering and immune cell analysis were performed. The findings suggest that certain miRNAs and immune cells play important roles in the pathogenesis of melanoma.

Summary: Clarifying inflammatory processes and categorising asthma into phenotypes and endotypes improves asthma management. Obesity worsens severe asthma and reduces quality of life, although its specific molecular impact remains unclear. We aimed to study hsa-miR-26a-1-3p, hsa-miR-376a-3p, and their target genes in asthmatic subjects with or without obesity to find biomarkers and comprehend obese asthma mechanisms.

Summary: The study demonstrated that miR-24-3p expression was decreased in OA cases compared to controls, and IL-1 beta further reduced miR-24-3p expression in chondrocyte cell line CHON-001. Overexpression of miR-24-3p attenuated IL-1 beta-induced chondrocyte injury, as shown by increased cell viability, decreased caspase-3 activity, and reduced levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-alpha and IL-18). The protective effects of miR-24-3p were mediated through targeting BCL2L12 in the context of OA therapy.

Summary: MicroRNAs have received significant attention in recent years for their potential role in osteoarthritis pathogenesis. A study on rats showed that intra-articular injections of miR-140-5p can effectively alleviate early-stage OA progression by modulating various biological processes and pathways. In particular, multiple injections of miR-140-5p demonstrated better therapeutic effects compared to single injections in alleviating early-stage OA.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the regulatory role of hsa-miR-143-3p in corneal epithelial stem cells (CESCs). The researchers found that high expression of hsa-miR-143-3p increased colony forming potential and inhibited the expression of differentiation marker Cx43. Additionally, hsa-miR-143-3p was found to downregulate target genes involved in the Wnt-beta-catenin and MAPK signaling pathways, indicating its importance in maintaining the stemness of CESCs.

Summary: This study examined the association between miRNA levels in extracellular vesicles (EVs) from serum and the severity of Major Depression (MD). The expression levels of hsa-miR-6813-3p and hsa-miR-2277-3p were found to be significantly downregulated with increasing depression severity of MD. These miRNAs could serve as novel biomarkers for MD and contribute to understanding its pathophysiology.

Summary: This study demonstrated that several gene polymorphisms, including ERCC2 rs13181, XRCC1 rs25487, and XRCC3 rs861539, are associated with susceptibility to lung cancer in the Saudi population. The study analyzed 134 lung cancer patients and 270 controls and found significant associations between these gene polymorphisms and squamous cell carcinoma, small cell lung cancer, and adenocarcinoma. Additionally, combined recessive genotypes were also found to be associated with lung cancer susceptibility.

Summary: This study investigated the gene expression variation in the liver of tilapia fish under the effect of MC-LR or MC-RR toxins. The results showed increased expression of GSTA mRNA, variable alterations in GPx, GSTR, UCP2, and CYP1A mRNA, and gradually elevated expression of HSP70 mRNA after MCs exposure. These findings indicate that tilapia liver expresses phase II detoxification enzymes and increased UCP2 and HSP70 expression may protect against oxidative stress and prevent apoptosis.

Summary: Breast cancer has a high prevalence in females worldwide, and its treatment poses persistent challenges. This study explores the therapeutic potential of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) in the regulation of microRNA and the protein MMP-9. The results show that AuNPs inhibit MMP-9 expression through the upregulation of microRNA-204-5p in breast cancer cells. Additionally, AuNPs also inhibit NF-?B activation. These findings demonstrate the novel therapeutic role of AuNPs in breast cancer.
