Summary: This study comprehensively analyzes the development history, application progress, and future directions of dynamic material flow analysis (dMFA) through a review of existing literature. The results show that dMFA exhibits a multi-perspective, multi-object, and multi-scale development trend, mainly including spatial-temporal simulation and evaluation. Spatial-temporal simulation studies, especially time evolution studies, are hot topics, while spatial identification studies are less common and mostly focused on the urban scale. Additionally, dMFA evaluation is also a research hotspot.

Summary: This paper proposes a deep reinforcement learning approach to solve the assembly sequence planning (ASP) problem, aiming to improve response speed by leveraging the reusability and expandability of past decision-making experiences. Through steps like instance generation algorithm, mask algorithm, and Monte Carlo sampling method, the assembly cost is minimized effectively under precedence constraints. It is demonstrated that the method accurately and efficiently solves the ASP problem in an environment with dynamic resource changes.

Summary: Traditional system investment decisions are costly and hard to reverse, especially with uncertainties from flexible load and renewables (FLR). This paper proposes a novel method to evaluate network investment horizon deferral based on the trade-off between waiting profit and waiting cost under FLR uncertainties. Paying waiting cost is found to be an economical way to reduce the impact of uncertainty and avoid hastily investments.

Summary: This article addresses the problem of scheduling direct deliveries between a depot and multiple customers using a heterogeneous truck fleet, with consideration of time windows and weights constraints, milk runs, and maximization of the weighted flow time. The authors adapt a mixed-integer programming model and prove the NP-completeness of feasibility decision-making at different levels. They also compare the performance of constraint programming solver, logic-based Benders decomposition, and commercial optimization software, and explore the robustness of the objective function and the impact of milk runs.

Summary: This study investigates the metabolism of terbium along its life cycle in China and identifies its sources, paths, and sinks using dynamic material flow analysis. The results reveal a significant shortage of terbium supply in China, with over 60% of the total terbium mineral production coming from illegal mining. However, there is great recycling potential for terbium in end-of-life products.

Summary: This study investigates magnesium metabolism in China from 2002 to 2021 using a retrospective, dynamic material flow analysis method. The results show that China's magnesium supply has doubled to meet the tripled demand, with over 69% used for refractory materials and less than 5% for pure magnesium applications. The total net magnesium export in 2021 reached 1.8 megatons (Mt), while only 9.8% of the total primary magnesium production was recycled during the study period. Policy recommendations are proposed to improve resource efficiency, incubate efficient production technologies, increase added values of magnesium-containing products, and optimize trading.

Summary: China is expected to become the world's largest producer of ethylene, but the environmental impact of the traditional ethylene production process in the petrochemical industry is a growing concern. This study proposes a feasible and optimal pathway for ethylene production expansion to balance environmental and economic considerations. By adopting alternative production processes and optimizing efficiency, environmental pressures can be alleviated and a weak decoupling of the low-carbon economy can be achieved. However, CO2 emissions will increase with the doubling of ethylene production. This research provides methodological support for sustainable industrial development domestically and globally.
