Summary: A mouse model using esophageal cancer stem cells was developed to mimic the migration and metastasis process of tumors. The study found that the injected cancer stem cells migrated to the lungs and liver after three months. This finding provides a valuable model to investigate the metastasis mechanisms and develop targeted therapies for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.

Summary: This study analyzes the perioperative complications and survival of liver transplant patients with portal vein thrombosis (PVT). PVT significantly influenced early vascular complications. Additionally, PVT Yerdel 2 or higher impacted the survival of liver grafts in the short and long term.

Summary: Liver metastasis of colorectal cancer is a major cause of cancer-related death. Cancer-associated fibroblasts play a crucial role in metastatic CRC progression and poor patient prognosis. A new mouse model using CRC organoids injection into the portal vein has been developed to study the interaction between metastatic cancer cells and CAFs, providing a useful platform for assessing novel therapeutic strategies.

Summary: This study reports the first case of robotic total gastrectomy with thrombectomy and portal vein reconstruction for gastric cancer with portal vein tumor thrombus (PVTT). The surgery was found to be safe and precise, and it may contribute to improved prognosis of patients with gastric cancer and PVTT.

Summary: The study demonstrated the potential of IPN hydrogel as an effective embolic material for trans-portal vein chemoembolization in inhibiting tumor growth, reducing angiogenesis, and promoting tumor apoptosis in an orthotopic HCC mouse model. Cisplatin-loaded IPN hydrogel showed significant tumor growth inhibition and decreased tumor cell survival compared to untreated groups.

Summary: PSVD is a newly named condition that represents non-cirrhotic portal hypertension with characteristic histology and the absence of portal vein thrombosis. It is a more inclusive definition than previously recognized idiopathic non-cirrhotic portal hypertension. However, there is limited data available on PSVD patients.

Summary: This study evaluated the development of sinistral portal hypertension (SPH) and its clinical impact on the long-term outcomes of patients with pancreatic cancer who underwent surgical resection with splenic vein (SV) ligation. The results showed that although SV ligation induced SPH, it did not lead to clinically significant long-term complications and did not impact the long-term survival of patients with resected pancreatic head cancer.

Summary: The aim of this study was to develop a simple and effective model to predict portal vein thrombosis (PVT) in cirrhotic patients. Clinical data of 656 patients were collected and a predictive model was constructed. The model showed high predictive value in internal and external validation, and it was confirmed that PVT patients had poor prognosis and were prone to recurrent esophageal and gastric variceal bleeding.

Summary: Metastatic spread to the brain is a devastating manifestation of many types of cancer, highlighting the urgent need for novel therapeutic agents and strategies. The lack of suitable experimental models has been a major hurdle in understanding brain metastasis biology and treatment. A xenograft mouse model of brain metastasis using HER2-amplified cells from inflammatory breast cancer has been established, allowing for investigation of key mediators in the metastatic process and preclinical testing of new treatment strategies.

Summary: This study aimed to describe the incidence and risk factors of superior mesenteric vein/portal vein (SMV/PV) thrombosis after vein reconstruction during pancreatectomy. The results showed that the rate of thrombosis varied according to the reconstruction technique, with synthetic graft interposition carrying the highest risk. SMV/PV thrombosis was associated with increased 90-day mortality and overall 30-day complication rate.
