Summary: This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of marking ground glass nodules (GGNs) with a pulmonary nodules localization needle (PNLN) prior to video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS). The results showed a high success rate and low complication rate in marking GGNs using PNLNs. All GGNs were successfully removed by VATS, indicating the safety and reliability of this approach.

Summary: This study analyzed the use of CT-aided thoracoscopic surgery for small pulmonary nodules, showing successful resection in all cases with minimal morbidity. The histopathological diagnosis led to treatment changes in 42% of the patients. The hybrid-CATS technique provides good access to deeply located small pulmonary nodules, particularly valuable in lung cancer screening programs.

Summary: This study presents a method using a mixture of indocyanine green and human albumin for CT-guided nodule localization, which was proven to be safe, effective, and easy to perform. It has the potential to facilitate accurate localization and resection of pulmonary nodules during VATS surgery, reducing the risk of marker displacement/migration.

Summary: A total of 200 patients underwent VATDS at the Day Surgery Center at West China Hospital, with an average length of stay of 1.25 days. 93.5% of the patients were discharged within 24 hours as planned, and 11.5% of them experienced postoperative pulmonary complications requiring further treatment.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether performing video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) for indeterminate pulmonary nodules increases the risk of lobectomy for benign lesions. The results showed that patients in the VATS group underwent more wedge resections, while the thoracotomy group had a significantly higher frequency of lung cancer diagnosis. The rate of lobectomy was higher in the VATS group, but there was no significant difference in terms of lobectomy performed for a benign lesion between the two groups.

Summary: The study retrospectively analyzed the incidence and predictors of complications related to hookwire localization in patients with single and multiple nodules, and evaluated the usefulness of a single-stage surgical method of single hookwire localization combined with VATS in SMPNs. The results showed that the combined surgical approach was feasible and safe with high success rates and low complication rates, making it a viable option for SMPNs.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the risk and beneficial factors of early discharge after thoracoscopic anatomic lung cancer surgery, and identified predictors and associated 30-day readmission. The study found that age, sex, tumor size, pleural adhesions, lymph nodes calcification, clinical T stage, resection type, and operative time were independent risk factors for discharge after postoperative Day 2. However, factors such as lung function, anesthesia type, and thoracoscopic surgery type were associated with a decreased likelihood of discharge after postoperative Day 2. The study concluded that carefully selected patients can be safely discharged within 2 days after thoracoscopic anatomic lung cancer surgery.

Summary: This study provides a preliminary investigation into the use of UWB radio technology for localizing deep solitary pulmonary nodules during thoracoscopic surgery. The results indicate that cancer localization was feasible at operational frequencies below 1 GHz and for deep nodules (>5 cm), but hindrances occurred at lower depths and higher frequencies.

Summary: With the increasing awareness of physical examination, the detection rate of pulmonary nodules is gradually increasing. CT-guided preoperative localization technique is the most widely used method for managing pulmonary nodules recommended for VATS. However, there is a lack of unified guidelines for the selection of localization methods in clinical practice.

Summary: Both electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopic marking and CT-guided percutaneous marking using ICG and iopamidol are safe and effective for preoperative localization of pulmonary nodules. Bronchoscopic approach allows marking of multiple lesion areas without increasing the risk of complications.
