Summary: This study evaluated the consistency of patient responses to multiple questionnaires measuring the severity of fecal incontinence. Significant differences were found in the responses regarding the frequency of different types of incontinence on all three questionnaires. Between 58.0% and 69.9% of responses were equivalent, while 14.1%-34.0% were slightly different and 8.0%-18.8% were very different.

Summary: This study conducted an umbrella overview of Cochrane systematic reviews on interventions for preventing postpartum urinary and faecal incontinence, finding that the use of a vacuum instead of forceps, the use of an endo-anal ultrasound prior to repairing perineal tears, and postpartum pelvic floor muscle training suggest a reduction in postpartum incontinence.

Summary: This study evaluated the long-term functional outcomes of artificial urinary sphincter implantation in men for stress urinary incontinence from June 1989 to January 2020. It found that a significant proportion of patients needed revision or explant surgery, and long-term continence rates, while acceptable, tended to decrease over time. However, high long-term patient satisfaction rates were observed in patients who maintained a functional artificial urinary sphincter.

Summary: The project aimed to create an evidence-based European clinical practice guideline for the diagnosis and treatment of faecal incontinence. The guidelines were created in collaboration with different medical societies and included input from a patient advisory board. The guidelines included systematic literature searches, quality assessment, and the formulation of recommendations. Overall, there were 45 recommendations on the classification, diagnosis, and management of faecal incontinence in adult patients.

Summary: Long-term continence rates and patient satisfaction after AdVance and AdVanceXP sling surgery are acceptable but deteriorate significantly as time from surgery progresses. Patients with a history of pelvic radiotherapy and previous incontinence or urethral stricture surgery are associated with decreased continence rates and patient satisfaction.

Summary: Faecal incontinence is a common condition that can have significant physical and psychological impacts. Mechanical devices such as anal and vaginal inserts have shown to improve continence, bowel function, and quality of life in some cases, but more high-quality evidence is needed to determine their long-term effectiveness.

Summary: The aim of this study was to evaluate the long-term cost-effectiveness of sacral neuromodulation in the treatment of severe faecal incontinence as compared with symptomatic management. The results showed that sacral neuromodulation may be considered a cost-effective technique in the long-term treatment of severe faecal incontinence from the societal and health care sector perspectives, with incremental cost-effectiveness ratios of 14347euro/QALY and 28523euro/QALY, respectively.

Summary: The aim of this cross-sectional study was to investigate the factors associated with patient satisfaction in patients with a dental implant-supported single crown or fixed prosthesis. The results showed that most patients had high satisfaction levels in terms of functionality, aesthetics, cleanliness, and overall satisfaction, but lower satisfaction levels in terms of cleanliness and treatment cost. Factors such as implant failure, mechanical complications, and sinus augmentation negatively affected patient satisfaction, while factors such as posterior implant placement, higher income, and restoration by specialists positively affected patient satisfaction.

Summary: Recent research explored patient experience and satisfaction with symptomatic FIT in an 'early adopter' site in England. The study found that satisfaction with FIT was high, but satisfaction with GP consultation and receiving results was lower. Efforts to improve satisfaction should focus on ensuring that patients understand the purpose of the test and always receive their test results.
