Summary: This study investigated the relationship between BMI and clinical outcomes in patients hospitalized with bacteremic sepsis. The results showed a reverse-J-shaped relationship, with underweight and normal-weight patients experiencing higher mortality and longer hospital stays compared to higher BMI groups. The protective effect of a higher BMI diminished in the highest BMI group.

Summary: In patients undergoing shoulder arthroplasty, the presence of Metabolic Syndrome (MetS) did not significantly increase the risk of postoperative complications, infection, reoperation, or revision; however, in the subgroup of RSA, complications were more common in patients with MetS. Individual risk factors may be more appropriate to consider prior to aTSA rather than the umbrella diagnosis of MetS.

Summary: Depression and obesity often co-occur, with the FTO gene potentially influencing both, but there is no conclusive evidence regarding its exact role in the comorbidity of depression and obesity. Further research is needed to clarify this relationship.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the impact of sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) on diabesity in a Chinese community and the moderating role of other health risk factors (HRFs). The study found a significant correlation between SSBs and obesity as well as waist circumference, and sleep patterns and blood glucose levels also had an influence. Furthermore, a three-way interaction was observed between SSBs, sleep patterns, and blood glucose levels. Understanding diabesity caused by SSBs and other HRFs can help in prevention.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the associations between hyperlipidemia and other baseline metabolic and hormonal parameters, as well as the impact of surgical remission on lipid metabolism in patients with Cushing's disease. The results indicated that preoperative hyperlipidemia was significantly correlated with impaired glucose metabolism and morning cortisol levels in patients with CD, and lipid abnormalities improved but may persist after surgery.

Summary: This study examines the intergenerational relationship between parental famine exposure and the obesity risks of offspring. The findings suggest that parental famine experiences are associated with an increased BMI in offspring, indicating an intergenerational impact of severe malnutrition on obesity risks.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the association between hyperlipidemia and the risk of death in the aneurysm population, with a focus on age, gender, and aneurysm location differences. Using the COX regression model, it was found that hyperlipidemia was associated with a lower death risk in aneurysm patients. Additionally, age, gender, and aneurysm location also influenced this relationship.

Summary: The study analyzed the fruit and vegetable intake status of the Chinese labor force and examined potential risk and protective factors. It also investigated the association between fruit and vegetable intake and malnutrition in this population. The results showed inadequate consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables, especially for fruits. Interventions are needed to promote daily intake of fruits and vegetables in this population. Further in-depth studies are recommended in populations with different health status.

Summary: This meta-analysis found that excessive use of SNSs is associated with an increased risk of disordered eating behaviors. Potential moderators such as body mass index, survey methods, and sample sources were identified to alter the relationship between SNSs and disordered eating behaviors. Additionally, university students showed a larger correlation between SNSs and disordered eating behaviors compared to other samples.

Summary: The study found that the survival rate of women with primary lung cancer is often higher than that of men, and machine learning algorithms perform well in survival prediction. Surgical removal plays an important role in one-year survival prediction. Male patients may have more complex factors in lung cancer, highlighting the need for developing gender-specific diagnosis and prognosis models.

Summary: The meta-analysis revealed that the prevalence of suicide attempts in pregnant women was 680 per 100,000 and 210 per 100,000 in the first-year postpartum. The source of data significantly influenced the prevalence of suicide attempts. While the prevalence of suicide attempts is not high in pregnant and postpartum women, careful screening and effective preventive measures should still be implemented.

Therefore, sex information plays an important role in optimizing disease diagnosis models.

Summary: This study investigated the prevalence of schizophrenia and its association with socio-demographic factors in Hebei province, an important agricultural region in China. Unmarried status, lower education level, unemployment, lower income, and family history of psychiatric disorders were independently associated with a higher risk of schizophrenia, while age above 60 years was associated with a lower risk. The prevalence of schizophrenia in Hebei province appeared to be lower compared to other regions of China or other countries.

Summary: Through a meta-analysis of multiple studies, it was found that the intake of total carotenoids, beta-carotene, alpha-carotene, lycopene, and/or corn xanthin was significantly inversely associated with depressive symptoms, while beta-cryptoxanthin showed no significant correlation. The results suggest that carotenoids may act as protective factors for depressive symptoms, and dietary intake may help reduce the risk of depressive symptoms.
