Summary: The number of transcatheter aortic valve implantations (TAVI) has increased significantly in recent decades. This study provides an analysis of the causes of TAVI failure, including degenerative, functional, and infective factors, as well as the outcomes of surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) after TAVI. The causes of SAVR after TAVI failure are multifactorial, and the prognosis varies depending on the underlying factors.

Summary: Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) has become a popular treatment option for severe aortic stenosis. Echocardiography plays a key role in evaluating TAVI patients, both before and after the procedure. This review focuses on the technical advancements in echocardiography and their use in the follow-up of TAVI patients, particularly in assessing ventricular function and detecting valve deterioration.

Summary: This study presents a large multicentre international experience, demonstrating that percutaneous closure of para-valvular leak (PVL) after transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is a feasible and safe option. Successful reduction of PVL to mild or less may be associated with acute and long-lasting improvements in clinical outcomes.

Summary: This study investigated the clinical characteristics and outcomes of patients with infective endocarditis (IE) after transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). The study found no significant difference in in-hospital mortality and 1-year all-cause mortality between patients treated with antibiotics alone and patients treated with cardiac surgery and antibiotics. The high mortality in patients with TAVI-IE was strongly associated with patients' characteristics, pathogens, and complications.

Summary: The study focused on the efficacy of redo-TAVI in reducing para-valvular regurgitation after transcatheter aortic valve implantation. Results showed that redo-TAVI was effective in reducing regurgitation and improving procedural success rates for PVR patients. Further investigation is needed for patient selection in PVR therapies.

Summary: Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) within failed bioprosthetic surgical aortic valves (valve-in-valve TAVI) is a well-established procedure for high-risk patients needing repeat aortic valve intervention. Challenges in valve-in-valve treatment include malposition, prosthesis-patient mismatch, and coronary obstruction, highlighting the importance of optimal patient selection and preprocedural planning to minimize risks. This review article provides a comprehensive overview of key periprocedural considerations for valve-in-valve TAVI.

Summary: With the increasing use of transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) in patients with aortic valve stenosis, there has been a significant improvement in survival and physical health. This study found that quality of life (QoL) improvement is also an important factor in evaluating the success of therapy. A study of 285 TAVI patients showed significant improvements in health status and depression symptoms during the first year after the intervention.

Summary: Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) has become the standard of care for elderly high-risk patients with symptomatic severe aortic stenosis. However, diagnosing bioprosthetic valve dysfunction after TAVI is challenging and there are limited evidence-based criteria to guide therapy. This review focuses on the role of imaging modalities in monitoring the integrity of transcatheter heart valves.

Summary: The study revealed heterogeneous preferences for living arrangements for people with dementia, and the expansion of concepts with access to natural environments might be a viable option for the formal care market in Germany. Further research is needed to address the challenges of setting up and designing innovative living arrangements for people with dementia. Preferences for living arrangements vary by gender, age, religious beliefs, experience as an informal caregiver, and migrant background.
