Collections of submerged wood in streams in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, Thailand yielded three sporoschisma-like taxa. Morphological examination and phylogenetic analysis of LSU sequence data support the separation of two isolates as new species (S. palauense and S. longicatenatum) and the other as collection of S. hemipsila. The sexual morph (Melanochaeta) is again linked to the asexual genus Sporoschisma by molecular data. The new species are introduced with descriptions and illustrations and compared with the most similar species.

Taxonomy, phylogeny, molecular dating and ancestral state reconstruction of Xylariomycetidae (Sordariomycetes)

Milan C. Samarakoon, Kevin D. Hyde, Sajeewa S. N. Maharachchikumbura, Marc Stadler, E. B. Gareth Jones, Itthayakorn Promputtha, Nakarin Suwannarach, Erio Camporesi, Timur S. Bulgakov, Jian-Kui Liu

Summary: This research focused on inconspicuous stromatic xylarialean taxa from several countries and identified 39 new taxa, including a new family, five new genera, 27 new species, and seven new host/geographical records. The analysis suggests that stromatic variations mostly occurred during the Cretaceous period.

Crassoascoma gen. nov. (Lentitheciaceae, Pleosporales): Unrevealing Microfungi from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in China

Zuo-Peng Liu, Sheng-Nan Zhang, Ratchadawan Cheewangkoon, Qi Zhao, Jian-Kui Liu

Summary: Microfungi associated with woody plants on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau were investigated, and a new genus Crassoascoma was discovered based on morphology and phylogenetic analysis. Four collections associated with Potentilla fruticosa were obtained from Gansu and Qinghai provinces in China, and they formed a distinct lineage within the Lentitheciaceae family.

Phylogenetic placement of Tretospeira cheirospora in Phaeosphaeriaceae

Ning-Guo Liu, Jian-Kui Liu, Ya-Ru Sun, Juangjun Jumpathong

Summary: A new hyphomycetous species, Tretospeira cheirospora, collected in northern Thailand, was described. It has unique characteristics such as brown conidiophores, monotretic conidiogenous cells, and distoseptate conidia. Molecular data confirms its classification in Phaeosphaeriaceae, and it is closely related to Banksiophoma australiensis. Comparison and discussion of similar genera in Phaeosphaeriaceae were also conducted.

Identification and Pathogenicity of Pestalotiod Fungi Associated with Woody Oil Plants in Sichuan Province, China

Wen-Li Li, Asha J. Dissanayake, Tian Zhang, Sajeewa S. N. Maharachchikumbura, Jian-Kui Liu

Summary: This study provides an updated phylogeny for Pestalotiod fungi genera Neopestalotiopsis, Pestalotiopsis, and Seiridium, based on fresh collections from woody oil plants in Sichuan Province, China. Several new species were discovered, and pathogenicity tests showed some of them to be pathogenic on detached olive leaves.

Re-Evaluating Botryosphaeriales: Ancestral State Reconstructions of Selected Characters and Evolution of Nutritional Modes

Achala R. Rathnayaka, K. W. Thilini Chethana, Alan J. L. Phillips, Jian-Kui Liu, Milan C. Samarakoon, E. B. Gareth Jones, Samantha C. Karunarathna, Chang-Lin Zhao

Summary: This study re-evaluated the character evolution and taxonomic placements of Botryosphaeriales species. It found that the order originated around 109 million years ago in the early Cretaceous period. The study also assessed two hypotheses and found a relationship between conidial color and nutritional mode in botryosphaerialean taxa.

Statistical Analyses of the Non-Uniform Longitudinal Temperature Distribution in Steel Box Girder Bridge

Xian-Dong Yu, Sheng-Nan Zhang, Jian-Kui Liu

Summary: Asexual and sexual morphs of saprobic bambusicolous fungi from Sichuan Province, China were taxonomically identified using morphological, cultural, and molecular phylogenetic methods. The multi-gene phylogeny indicated that these fungi belong to the Savoryellaceae family. Three new species, Canalisporium sichuanense, Dematiosporium bambusicola, and Savoryella bambusicola, were identified and described, while two new records, C. dehongense and D. aquaticum, were found in both terrestrial and freshwater bamboo habitats. The nomenclatural confusion of C. dehongense and C. thailandense was discussed.
