Role of Nitric Oxide in Neurodegeneration: Function, Regulation, and Inhibition

Devesh Tewari, Archana N. Sah, Sweta Bawari, Seyed F. Nabavi, Ahmad R. Dehpour, Samira Shirooie, Nady Braidy, Bernd L. Fiebich, Rosa A. Vacca, Seyed M. Nabavi

Summary: RNS and ROS, products of normal cellular metabolism, can interact with vital biomolecules and potentially lead to cell death. Oxidative stress plays a crucial role in cognitive impairments, neural injury, and various pathology conditions involving elevated nitric oxide production. Natural polyphenols targeting the NO signaling pathway have significant implications in neurodegenerative diseases.
