Summary: This study assessed the effect of immediate provisionalization on soft tissue changes, hard tissue changes, and clinical parameters following single immediate implant placement. The results suggest that immediate provisionalization may contribute to midfacial soft tissue stability at immediate implants.

Summary: The aim of this study was to evaluate the healing of hard and soft tissues around teeth prepared with different techniques, including the biologically oriented preparation technique (BOPT), chamfer technique, and non-prepared teeth. The results showed that both the BOPT and chamfer techniques resulted in a more apical location of the free gingival margin compared to non-prepared teeth. However, there were no significant differences between the two preparation techniques in terms of the healing of the periodontal tissues.

Summary: Dental implant provisional restorations play a vital role in successful implant treatment. The advent of CAD/CAM technology has revolutionized the field by providing improved precision and more predictable treatment outcomes. This study comprehensively assessed the biocompatibility, gingival tissue attachment, and biofilm formation of provisional implant restorations using CAD/CAM technology compared to conventional methods. The results showed that CAD/CAM-fabricated provisional implant restorations using a milling technique may be the most favorable in terms of biocompatibility and periodontal-related biofilm formation.

Summary: The objective of this study was to determine the frequency percentage of screw-retained crown using angulated screw channel (ASC) abutment for single immediate implant placement and provisionalization (IIPP) in the esthetic zone. CBCT images of 200 patients were evaluated and the frequency percentages of IIPP, IIPPSSC, and IIPPASC were compared. The results showed that 90% of single IIPP in the esthetic zone can be restored with screw-retained crown when utilizing ASC.

Summary: The study characterized the physicochemical and mechanical properties of a milled fiber-reinforced composite for implant-supported fixed dental prostheses. Results showed that FDPs fabricated with milled epoxy resin matrix reinforced with glass fibers demonstrated high probability of survival at 300N load, indicating good fatigue performance.

Summary: The study found that the C/I ratio and peri-implant bone resorption in short implants have a significant impact on the generated stress, with resorption leading to a significant increase in stress values. The preference of crown materials does not affect stress distribution in the bone and implant structure under static loading.

Summary: This systematic review aimed to evaluate the marginal fit and internal adaptation of provisional crowns and fixed dental prostheses fabricated using 3D-printing resins compared to CAD/CAM milling and conventional resins. The findings concluded that provisional crowns and FDPs made from 3D-printing resins have superior marginal fit and internal adaptation compared to CAD/CAM-milled and conventional provisional resins.

Summary: This study evaluated the early and late implant loss rates in a cohort of patients who received implant-supported restorative therapy in a university setting from 2001 to 2012. The results showed that the rate of early implant failure was 0.6% and late implant failure was 3.7% after an average follow-up of 8.2 years. Factors associated with late implant failure included age under 55, smoking history, and poor access to interproximal hygiene.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the association between tobacco and peri-implant diseases and investigate patient- and implant-related variables associated with peri-implant diseases. Data from 117 patients treated with implant-supported restorations were analyzed, and the study found that smoke intensity was associated with an increased risk of peri-implant diseases.

Summary: Single-implant overdentures (SIOs) pose a significant biomechanical challenge in terms of prosthetic retention. The Novaloc attachment system, with its use of PEEK matrices, shows potential in overcoming this challenge for SIOs. This study compared the retention force of the Novaloc attachment to the traditional Locator system, before and after cyclic insertion-removal cycles. The authors concluded that Novaloc may provide more reliable retention for SIOs due to their higher resistance to insertion-removal cycling.

Summary: Concerns have arisen recently about potential deformations and fractures of titanium implants, despite their widespread use in orthopedic and dental surgeries. In a recent clinical case, a titanium implant fractured after successful osseointegration, even without significant trauma or excessive external force. Factors including design flaws, material fatigue, and biomechanical stress during functional loading contribute to such fractures. This raises concerns about the long-term durability and reliability of titanium implants, especially in high-stress areas.

Summary: This study assessed the accuracy of a real-time dynamic navigation system in zygomatic implant surgery and summarized device-related negative events and their management. The results showed that navigation-supported zygomatic implantation is an accurate and reliable surgical approach, but technical negative events in the navigation process should be given attention.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to evaluate stress distribution and maximum von Mises stress values in endocrown restorations and remaining teeth using finite element analysis. The results showed that the endocrown restoration had the lowest von Mises stress values when a 6-degree divergence angle was used with Vitablocs MarkII.

Summary: This study assessed the impact of clinical variables on the success of three-unit implant-supported fixed dental prostheses fabricated using fully digital or conventional workflows. The results showed that there were no significant differences in impression accuracy, framework adaptation and passivity, and reconstruction aesthetics between the two approaches. However, the total fabrication time was significantly shorter using the digital workflow.
