Summary: The study evaluated the tensile bond strength between zirconia and methacryloyloxydecyl-dihydrogen-phosphate (MDP)-containing self-adhesive resin cement after different surface-pretreatment methods. The results showed that the bond strength was higher and fracture probabilities were lower when zirconia was pretreated with HNO3/HF etching or ZrO2-nanoparticle coating.

Summary: The effect of a new etching technique (Zircos-E) on Ceramill Zi (Amann Girrbach) zirconia was investigated. Surface preparation for bonding is difficult due to the polycrystalline structure of zirconia. Etching zirconia ceramics resulted in changes in surface structure and increased bond strength with resin cement. The use of primers positively affected the adhesion between resin cement and zirconia. The Zircos-E system and primers improved the strength of the zirconium-resin cement connection.

Summary: This study evaluated the bond strength between different stabilized zirconias and resin cement, as well as the susceptibility to thermal aging of the adhesive interface. The results showed that thermal aging degraded the bond strength between the first generation 3Y-TZP and 5Y-PSZ with the resin cement, but had no effect on the bond strength of the third generation 3Y-TZP and 4Y-PSZ. The speed sintering method did not affect the long-term bond strength with the resin cement, and the adhesive reliability was higher for the third generation 3Y-TZP and 4Y-PSZ.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of acid etching treatment on the surface microstructure, roughness, and contact angle of zirconia, and compares its effects on the shear bond strength of resin cement. The results suggest that acid etching significantly alters the surface of zirconia and increases the resin cement's bond strength. Therefore, acid etching is a promising method for zirconia surface treatment.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of different surface treatments on commercial yttria-tetragonal zirconia polycrystalline (Y-TZP) material. Samples treated with hydrofluoric acid-HF 40% showed significant improvement in contact angle and lower surface free energy. The use of nanofilms increased surface roughness. Silicatization and silanization treatments resulted in better bond strength between Y-TZP and dual resin cement.
