Summary: The study investigates the predictive effect of composite indices of femoral neck strength on femoral head collapse in steroid-associated osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) patients. The results suggest that the composite indices are more effective predictors of femoral head collapse compared to bone turnover markers.

Summary: This study examined the association between blood cadmium (BCd) exposure and thyroid hormone levels in Korean adults. The results showed nonlinear associations between BCd and free thyroxine in smokers, but no significant associations were found in men or women. The study provides empirical support for establishing an acceptable concentration range of BCd and introduces a new concept for preventing thyroid problems.

Summary: The study suggests that blood mercury concentration may lead to a higher prevalence of borderline hypercholesterolemia among adolescents, especially in boys. More stringent public health measures should be taken to reduce mercury exposure for dyslipidemia prevention, although further research is needed to evaluate the causal relationship.

Summary: Despite the use of antiplatelet agents, high-on-aspirin platelet reactivity (HAPR) can lead to recurrent ischemic stroke, especially in cases of large-artery atherosclerosis. HAPR is more commonly associated with stroke due to extracranial atherosclerosis and inadequate antiplatelet inhibition. Artery-to-artery embolism is independently associated with HAPR in both types of stroke.
