Summary: The study investigated the characteristics and prevalence of demoralisation syndrome among heart transplantation patients in Taiwan. Findings showed that 35.8% of patients experienced demoralisation syndrome, with stress and poor renal function being predictors of the syndrome. Further research on demoralisation in cardiac transplant recipients is warranted.

Summary: Renal transplant recipients have a higher risk of acute kidney injury following cardiac surgery compared to non-RTRs, especially those with deceased donor status and higher preoperative calcineurin inhibitor trough levels.

Summary: This study found that cardiac structural abnormalities improve following kidney transplantation in pediatric patients and normalize within 7 years, especially with controlled blood pressure. Strict blood pressure control is critical after pediatric kidney transplantation.

Summary: This study investigated the effectiveness of the fourth BNT162b2 vaccine dose in reducing the rate and severity of COVID-19 caused by the Omicron variant in renal transplant recipients. The results showed that the fourth dose of the vaccine can lower the infection rate and minimize the severity of the disease, despite the reduced immune response to the variant.

Summary: This study investigated the immune response to a third or fourth dose of mRNA vaccine in dialysis and kidney transplant patients. It found that patients with impaired immune function had a poorer immune response to the vaccine, especially against the new omicron variants. Modified vaccines targeting the omicron variant are needed.

Summary: A third and fourth dose of SARS-CoV-2 vaccination effectively boosts the immune response of liver transplant recipients, although to a lesser extent than in healthy controls. A fourth vaccination should be generally considered for liver transplant recipients.

Summary: Pediatric renal transplant recipients have a high prevalence of hypertension, with controlled hypertension potentially impacting the evolution of GFR. It is suggested to enhance the control of hypertension to maintain renal transplant function.

Summary: This study retrospectively assessed the performance of arterial pressure waveform-based cardiac output estimation (CO-FloTrac) during off-pump coronary artery bypass graft (OPCAB) surgery. The results showed that despite time adjustments, CO-FloTrac exhibited considerable overestimation, unacceptable precision, and poor trending ability in this surgical setting.

Summary: Exercise stress echocardiography (ESE) has potential value in predicting cardiovascular (CV) events in pediatric heart transplant (HTx) recipients. A positive ESE is associated with increased risk of CV events and CV death, while a negative ESE can help predict event-free survival.

Summary: Medicated PA patients exhibit higher systemic vascular resistance and wave reflection compared to medicated EH patients, but show higher extracellular water volume, cardiac output, and arterial stiffness. Further studies are needed to determine if evaluating these features systematically would benefit the clinical diagnostics of PA.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the impact of blood pressure changes on arterial stiffness and the influencing factors on blood pressure in children after kidney transplantation. The results indicated that an increase in blood pressure was associated with an increase in pulse wave velocity (PWV), and female sex and lower estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) were associated with higher PWV. Additionally, higher levels of cyclosporine A and everolimus in the blood were associated with increased blood pressure.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the long-term symptoms of COVID-19, serum calprotectin levels, and arterial stiffness parameters in Dalmatian kidney transplant recipients (KTRs), as well as their possible associations. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 98 KTRs who had recovered from COVID-19, and standardized questionnaires were used to assess long COVID symptoms. Serum calprotectin levels were measured, and clinical and laboratory parameters were obtained. The results showed significant differences in serum calprotectin levels in the clinical manifestations of acute COVID-19 and follow-up laboratory parameters.
