Summary: Hypoxia, or low oxygen tension, is frequently found in highly proliferative solid tumors such as anaplastic thyroid carcinoma (ATC) and is believed to promote resistance to chemotherapy and radiation. Identifying hypoxic cells for targeted therapy may thus be an effective approach to treating aggressive cancers. In this study, miR-210-3p is explored as a potential cellular and extracellular biological marker of hypoxia in ATC cells, showing its association with low oxygen conditions and its presence in extracellular vesicles and Argonaute-2 as potential extracellular markers for hypoxia.

Summary: This study found that in pemetrexed-resistant NSCLC cells, overexpression of BMI1 leads to downregulation of miR-145-5p, resulting in increased expression of Sp1 and induction of the EMT process. Increasing miR-145-5p expression could serve as a sensitizing agent for pemetrexed-resistant NSCLC patients.

Summary: This study elucidated the role of c-Myb in immune escape of EAC cells by promoting the transcription of miR-145-5p and inhibiting SPOP-dependent ubiquitination and degradation of PD-L1. These findings present a new target for adjunct therapy of EAC.

Summary: The study developed a CT radiomics-based model for simultaneous diagnosis of ALK rearrangements and EGFR mutation status in lung adenocarcinoma, with evaluation of the added value of peritumoural radiomic features. Results showed that the intratumoural radiomic model performed well in predicting ALK rearrangements and EGFR mutations.

Summary: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common gastrointestinal cancers in the world, including China, and its incidence is increasing. Recent research has shown that certain miRNAs are differentially expressed in cancer tissues and are closely associated with the prognosis of CRC.

Summary: In this study, it was found that circRNA_000684 can promote the progression of PDAC by downregulating miR-145 expression and upregulating KLF5. The inhibition of circRNA_000684 or elevation of miR-145 can inhibit the proliferation and migration of PDAC cells and HUVEC angiogenesis.

Summary: In lung adenocarcinoma patients, co-mutations of EGFR and ALK genes are relatively common, especially in women, non-smokers, and patients with bone metastasis. These patients prefer EGFR-TKIs as their targeted therapy drugs, but the therapeutic effect is not satisfactory.

Summary: This study investigated the potential use of miRNAs in differentiating between chronic pancreatitis (CP) and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), finding that miR-210-3p may serve as a biomarker for distinguishing patients with PDAC from those with CP.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the short-term and long-term efficacy and safety of pemetrexed combined with tislelizumab in advanced epidermal growth factor receptor tumor protein 53 co-variant lung adenocarcinoma. The results showed that the combination of chemotherapy and immunotherapy had higher disease control rate and objective remission rate in the short term, as well as significantly longer median disease progression-free survival in the long term. There were no significant differences in adverse reaction rates between the two groups. The observation group had better performance in immune indicators.

Summary: The study found that VRK2 was significantly increased in tumor tissues and cell lines, and its inhibition promoted apoptosis level and suppressed proliferation, migration, and invasion in A549 cells by regulating the ERK1/2/AKT signaling pathway. Additionally, the luciferase assay revealed that VRK2 could bind to miR-145-5p, and the level of miR-145-5p was negatively correlated with VRK2 expression, playing a role in VRK2 regulation of tumor progression. Knockdown of VRK2 inhibited pulmonary adenocarcinoma development by targeting miR-145-5p and regulating the ERK1/2/AKT signaling pathway.
