Caveolin-1 (Cav-1), the principal structural protein of caveolae, has been implicated as a regulator of virus-host interactions. Several viruses exploit caveolae to facilitate viral infections. However, the roles of Cav-1 in herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1) infection have not fully been elucidated. Here, we report that Cav-1 downregulates the expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and the production of nitric oxide (NO) in dendritic cells (DCs) during HSV-1 infection. As a result, Cav-1 deficiency led to an accelerated elimination of virus and less lung pathological change following HSV-1 infection. This protection was dependent on iNOS and NO production in DCs. Adoptive transfer of DCs with Cav-1 knockdown was sufficient to confer the protection to wild-type (WT) mice. In addition, Cav-1 knockout (KO) (Cav-1(-/-)) mice treated with an iNOS inhibitor exhibited significantly reduced survival compared to that of the nontreated controls. We found that Cav-1 colocalized with iNOS and HSV-1 in caveolae in HSV-1-infected DCs, suggesting their interaction. Taken together, our results identified Cav-1 as a novel regulator utilized by HSV-1 to evade the host antiviral response mediated by NO production. Therefore, Cav-1 might be a valuable target for therapeutic approaches against herpesvirus infections.

Cosmological imprints of Dirac neutrinos in a keV-vacuum 2HDM

Shao-Ping Li, Xin-Qiang Li, Xin-Shuai Yan, Ya-Dong Yang

Summary: The Dirac neutrino masses are generated by a neutrinophilic scalar doublet with a vacuum scale of O(keV), which is distinct from the electroweak vacuum. While the keV-scale vacuum scenario is inert in low-energy flavor physics, it can explain the baryon asymmetry of the Universe through baryogenesis realized via the lightest Dirac neutrino. Additionally, the Dirac neutrinos with a keV-vacuum scalar can produce a shift in the effective neutrino number, which can be probed by future Simons Observatory experiments.

Frequency-Domain Thermal Coupling Model of Multi-Chip Power Module

Mengqi Xu, Ke Ma, Yuhao Qi, Xu Cai, Xinqiang Li, Aiguo Wang, Luhai Zheng

Summary: The high-power density design of the insulated gate bipolar transistor power module may lead to complicated thermal behaviors, and the thermal-coupling effect among multiple chips is a major focus in the field of thermal modeling and characterization. The existing modeling methods simply describe the thermal coupling effect as a superposition of temperatures caused by lateral thermal diffusion, while this article proposes a novel thermal model considering the heat flow coupling by conducting frequency domain analysis and utilizing finite-element methods simulations. The proposed method simplifies the thermal modeling of the heat coupling effect and has been verified by both simulation and experiment.

Correlating the CDF W-boson mass shift with the b→ st+t- anomalies

Xin-Qiang Li, Ze-Jun Xie, Ya-Dong Yang, Xing -Bo Yuan

Summary: The recently updated measurement of the W-boson mass by the CDF collaboration deviates 7 sigma from the SM expectation, indicating the presence of new physics beyond the SM. The observed discrepancy could be explained by the influence of new fermions on the vacuum polarization of gauge bosons. These new fermions, having the same quantum numbers as SM quarks, can mix with them and modify the penguin diagrams governing b -> st+t- transitions. The study proposes a model with a vector-like top partner gauged under a new U(1)(gamma) symmetry to investigate the relation between the W-boson mass shift and b -> st+t- anomalies.

Bc- → J/ψ (→μ+μ-)τ-(→π-ντ, ρ-ντ, l-(ν)over-barlντ)(ν)over-barτ decays with visible final-state kinematics

Xin-Qiang Li, Xin Xu, Ya-Dong Yang, Dong-Hui Zheng

Summary: The semitauonic B-c -> J/psi tau decay is a clean mode to investigate new physics effects in b -> c(tau)-(nu) over bar (tau) transitions. The spin density matrix method is used to study the underlying physics of the B-c- J/psi tau decay, considering both polarized tau lepton and J/psi meson. The energy and angular distributions of the charged final-state particles are extracted by studying the subsequent decays of J/psi -> mu+mu- and tau- -> pi- nu(tau), tau- -> rho- tau, and tau- -> l-(nu) over bar (l) nu(tau).

Summary: Clear cell adenocarcinoma of the cervix (CCAC) is a rare type of cervical cancer that is not related to HPV. It is difficult to diagnose early and has a poor prognosis. This study analyzed the genetic alterations in patients with CCAC and identified CMTM5 as a shared mutated gene. The study also found that certain genes related to reproductive cancers had higher mutation rates in patients with CCAC. Pathway analysis showed that non-HPV cervical cancer has a weaker immune response compared to HPV-infected cervical cancer.

Summary: Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) is a technique used for measuring submicron and nano Particles Size Distribution (PSD) and widely applied in science and engineering. DLS measurements for non-flowing particles in suspension may be different from flowing particles as the translational motion of flowing particles leads to extra fluctuations of scattered light.

Rare top-quark decays t → cg( g) in the aligned two-Higgs-doublet model

Fang-Min Cai, Shuichiro Funatsu, Xin-Qiang Li, Ya-Dong Yang

Summary: We update the predictions for the branching ratios of rare top-quark decays and find that the aligned two-Higgs-doublet model (A2HDM) can reach higher rates compared to the standard model. However, no significant enhancements are observed in the four conventional two-Higgs-doublet models (2HDMs) with Z(2) symmetries. These results have important implications for the expected sensitivities of future high-energy colliders.

Searching and identifying leptoquarks through low-energy polarized scattering processes e- p → e- Λc

Li-Fen Lai, Xin-Qiang Li, Xin-Shuai Yan, Ya-Dong Yang

Summary: In this study, we investigate the potential for searching and identifying leptoquark effects in the charm sector through low-energy polarized scattering processes. We find that different leptoquark models can be distinguished by measuring four spin asymmetries constructed in terms of the polarized cross sections. Additionally, investing in transversely polarized processes in future experiments can directly probe into the imaginary part of the Wilson coefficients in the low-energy effective Lagrangian.
