Summary: The study introduced a novel method for identifying time-varying cable tension based on the variational mode decomposition (VMD) method, which can effectively handle sudden changes in cable force with a maximum error of 8.4%. The validity of the proposed method was demonstrated through the implementation of scaled and full-scale models, and accurate real-time results were obtained during on-site testing.

Summary: This paper proposes a time-frequency reassignment-based algorithm for quickly identifying the time-varying cable tension. By combining a time-frequency analysis tool and vibration theory of cables, the algorithm can accurately calculate the time-varying cable tension within a short time. Experimental validation confirms that the algorithm can be used for real-time condition monitoring of bridges.

Summary: The study introduces a new time-frequency analysis method for scalp EEG signals that eliminates the restriction of using fixed frequency bands and proposes two novel metrics. Validation results demonstrate that these metrics have higher discriminative power in classification, and they have the potential to serve as quantitative indicators of neural oscillations and biomarkers in neuroscience research.

Summary: Self-developed electric explosion technology (EET) equipment was used to carry out rock-breaking experiments. A high-speed camera recorded the expansion of cracks during rock breaking. The Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT) was applied to analyze the vibration signals, revealing the pattern of shock waves (SWs). Hilbert marginal spectrums, instantaneous energy spectrums, and three-dimensional Hilbert spectrums were used to illustrate the distribution and variation of energy in the time and frequency domains. The experimental results showed that SWs energy from 0 to 500 Hz accounted for more than 72% of the total energy, and energy from 0 to 2500 Hz accounted for more than 90% of the total. The energy of SWs had a high base value at the onset of discharge and decreased rapidly over time. Obvious instability phenomena, including energy transfer in frequency, reduction in energy attenuation rate, and reduction in the derivative wave effect, were observed during rock fracture.
