The piezoresistivity of graphite sheet filled silicone rubber composite (which is a typical composite with 2-3 structure) during compression is researched. If the graphite sheet content is low, the electrical resistance of the composite increases with the increase of the pressure. If the graphite sheet content is medium, the resistance decreases first and then increases with the increase of the pressure. When the graphite sheet content is high, the resistance decreases with the increase of the pressure. The piezoresistive mechanism of the composite is explained by using the theory on the effective conductive path. Based on the analyses of the piezoresistivity, the optimal graphite sheet content for the development of the piezoresistive sensor has been determined. (C) 2016 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
