Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the 'jailed semi-inflated balloon technique' (JSIBT) for side branch (SB) protection in STEMI patients undergoing emergent percutaneous coronary intervention. The use of JSIBT provided better SB protection and had a similar rate of SB complications compared with those using or not using SB wire.

Summary: The study aimed to determine the location of coronary atherosclerosis distribution in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). The results showed that the prevalence of lesions in the right coronary artery (RCA) increased with worsening CKD stage, while there was no significant change in the lesions of the left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD) and left circumflex coronary artery (LCX). This suggests that the pathophysiology of coronary atherosclerosis may differ by lesion location, and deterioration of renal function may play a more important role in the progression of atherosclerosis in the RCA.

Summary: This study compared the outcomes of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) for different lesion sites (ostial/shaft vs distal) in patients with unprotected left main coronary artery (ULMCA) disease. It found that for patients with distal ULMCA disease, CABG is associated with lower incidence of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) and revascularization compared with PCI.

Summary: This study compared the clinical characteristics and outcomes of NSTEMI patients with TOCCA and non-TOCCA. The short-term major adverse cardiac event rate was higher in the TOCCA group, while long-term mortality was higher in the non-TOCCA group.

Summary: This study compares the outcomes of multiarterial grafting and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients with multivessel coronary disease. It found that multiarterial grafting is associated with fewer adverse events, improved survival, and reduced hospital readmissions for appropriate patients.

Summary: The study found that NSTE-ACS patients with MVD undergoing MV-PCI and CO-PCI had similar mortality rates at long-term follow-up, but the MV-PCI group showed improved event-free survival in terms of fewer coronary reinterventions.

Summary: OHCA patients without ROSC on admission have higher rates of acute coronary occlusions. PCI is feasible with a high success rate in these patients, and meaningful survival is achievable.

Summary: This study compared in-hospital mortality and 30-day readmission rates between patients with spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) and ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) treated with primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI) and patients with STEMI without SCAD undergoing PPCI. The results showed that PPCI, when indicated in patients with STEMI and SCAD, has similar in-hospital mortality and 30-day readmission rates compared with PPCI for atherothrombotic STEMI. These findings support the value of PPCI in selected patients with SCAD.

Summary: This study compared the long-term prognosis between single-vessel PCI (SV-PCI) and multivessel PCI (MV-PCI) in patients with multivessel coronary artery disease (MV-CAD) presenting with non-ST-segment elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS). The results showed no significant difference in the incidence of major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCE) at 2 years between SV-PCI and MV-PCI groups, indicating that MV-PCI is not superior to SV-PCI in terms of long-term MACCE in NSTE-ACS patients with MV-CAD.

Summary: This study compared the occurrence of 1-year outcomes after PCI in OHCA patients and ACS patients without OHCA, revealing that unconscious OHCA patients were at higher risk of death, definite stent thrombosis, and bleeding, while conscious OHCA patients had similar hazards. Dedicated PCI strategies based on the state of consciousness post-resuscitation for OHCA patients are warranted.

Summary: Contemporary real-world data from Medicare patients with multivessel disease reveal that coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) outcomes were superior to percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), providing important longitudinal data to guide patient care and policy development.

Summary: This study investigated the incidence and outcomes of pre-percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) in patients admitted with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). The study found that pre-PCI SCA was associated with higher in-hospital mortality.

Summary: A 77-year-old man underwent PCI with complications of CAP. Initially, the CAP was thought to have resolved, but seven months later, the patient developed progressive symptoms and was found to have increased pericardial effusion. Pericardiectomy was performed with successful recovery and stability three years later.

Summary: This study suggests that complete revascularization should be performed in STEMI patients with multivessel coronary artery disease, and complete revascularization at the index procedure is superior to staged revascularization in reducing the risk of MACE events.

Summary: Recent randomized controlled trials have shown that early coronary angiography (CAG) does not improve survival or neurological outcome in resuscitated out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) patients without ST elevation. There is currently no randomized evidence supporting the use of mechanical circulatory support (MCS) specifically in patients with resuscitated OHCA and cardiogenic shock.
