Summary: This study compared the effectiveness of stepped care trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (SC-TF-CBT) and standard TF-CBT on child and parent secondary outcomes. The results showed that there were similar changes in child and caregiver secondary outcomes at all-time points. The non-inferiority tests indicated that SC-TF-CBT was non-inferior to TF-CBT for all outcomes except parenting stress at 6-months. However, the analysis with completers did not support non-inferiority for some outcomes, while the intent-to-treat analysis did support non-inferiority.

Summary: This study analyzed the effectiveness of a standard operating procedure (SOP) for fever treatment in stroke patients. The SOP significantly reduced the duration of fever in the 6 days after admission, with normothermia achieved within 120 min in over 90% of cases. The SOP was found to be cost-efficient and effective for fever treatment in stroke patients.

Summary: The use of the standard G418-resistance cassette for producing knockout mutants in Saccharomyces cerevisiae has potential side effects on neighboring gene expression, affecting transcription efficiency and mRNA translation. Knockout can lead to changes in the transcription start site or alternative polyadenylation signals of neighboring genes, influencing their 5' and 3' UTRs. These events may explain the phenomenon of false genetic interactions due to neighboring gene effects.

Summary: This study compared the outcomes of laparoscopic portoenterostomy (Lap-PE) with laparotomy (Open-PE) for the treatment of biliary atresia (BA). The results showed that Lap-PE had a shorter duration of blood loss, faster postoperative recovery, and similar outcomes in terms of complete resolution of jaundice and native liver survival rates compared to Open-PE.

Summary: Membranous nephropathy (MN) is a disease characterized by the deposition of immune complexes leading to thickening of glomerular basement membranes. The understanding of MN has evolved, with the identification of specific autoantibodies against novel podocyte antigens and the unraveling of intricate pathogenic pathways. Rituximab, an anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody, is favored as the initial therapy for MN, but some patients may be resistant to it, requiring alternative agents for treatment.

Summary: Retained hemothorax after trauma can lead to prolonged hospitalization, empyema, pneumonia, readmission, and additional intervention. This study aimed to reduce patient morbidity by identifying readmission rates and predictors of readmission. The majority of readmissions occurred within 30 days of discharge and required invasive interventions. These findings can be used to improve post-discharge follow-up and monitoring.
