Summary: A series of (8-hydroxyquinoline) gallium(III) complexes were synthesized and evaluated for their cytotoxicity against cancer cells. CP-4 showed excellent cytotoxicity against HCT116 cancer cells and lower toxicity than cisplatin and oxaliplatin. It affected the expression of DNA-related proteins, leading to cancer cell apoptosis. The emissive properties of CP-4 suggest its potential applications in colon cancer diagnosis and treatment, as well as in vivo imaging.

Summary: This study reports the characterization of several d-f heterobinuclear [GdCuL1-5(bpy)2(NO3)2] complexes based on 2,2'-bipyridyl ligands using spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The complexes were investigated for their luminescence, genetic code properties, catalytic activity, magnetism, and breaking attributes. The [GdCuL1-5(bpy)2(NO3)2] complexes exhibited two one-electron irreversible reduction events and showed ferromagnetic coupling. The inceptive rate of progress for oxidizing 1,2-benzenediol to cyclohexa-3,5-diene-1,2-dione was higher for longer chain complexes. The [GdCuL5(bpy)2(NO3)2] and [GdCuL4(bpy)2(NO3)2] complexes showed strong DNA genetic code properties, and the complexes exhibited singlet oxygen-mediated oxidative rift of circular recombinant plasmid pBR322 cloning vector in the presence of 2-sulfanylethanol.

Summary: The tridentate pyrazole ligand, pyrazole-pyridin-2-amine, and its neutral Co(II)/pyrazole complex were synthesized with a high yield using a direct method. The physicochemical and thermal analyses, as well as the DFT-like optimization of MEP, HOMO/LUMO, and TD-DFT, showed good correlations with the experimental results for the desired ligand and its complex. Furthermore, the oxidation catalytic activities of the Co(II)/pyrazole complex, including the catecholase of catechol to o-quinone and the phenoxazinone of 2-aminophenol to 2-aminophenoxazinone, were evaluated under mild conditions and atmospheric oxygen.

Summary: In recent years, many new lithium-excess compounds with rock-salt related structures have been extensively studied as high-capacity electrode materials for lithium-ion batteries. This study introduces lithium-rich layered tellurates, Li4.50M0.50TeO6 (M(iii) = Co, Ni, In), to the existing series of Li4.50M0.50TeO6 (M(iii) = Cr, Mn, Fe, Al, and Ga) oxides. Structural investigations reveal a new cationic ordering and a honeycomb array structure. XPS studies confirm the oxidation states of Co and Ni ions, and magnetic properties are observed for Li4.50Ni0.50TeO6.

Summary: In this study, two cobalt complexes (Co(L)3 and Co(HL)(L)2) were synthesized and their binding performance towards calf thymus DNA was analyzed. The results indicated that Co(L)3 interacted with DNA via hydrogen bonding and weak intermolecular interactions, while Co(HL)(L)2 interacted with DNA via weak intermolecular interactions only. The binding constants of Co(L)3 and Co(HL)(L)2 were higher than literature values, suggesting their potential for DNA treatment.
