Summary: Two polysaccharide fractions (PCB-1 and PCB2-1) were isolated from Pogostemon cablin and were found to possess significant antioxidant activities. In vitro experiments showed that the polysaccharides exhibited high scavenging activity against hydroxyl radicals and metal ion-chelating abilities. In vivo experiments in a mice model also demonstrated the potential of PCB-1 as an antioxidant by increasing the levels of antioxidant enzymes and inhibiting malondialdehyde formation.

Summary: The study found that Pogostemon cablin can prevent and treat nonalcoholic fatty liver disease through various pathways and targets, including regulating lipid metabolism, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant pathways. Pharmacological experiments demonstrated that Pogostemon cablin can reduce lipid accumulation and improve liver inflammation by inhibiting the activation of NF-kappa B/I kappa B signaling and decreasing the release of pro-inflammatory factors.

Summary: The cultivation of Pogostemon cablin faces challenges due to its susceptibility to drought stress, which reduces propagation and oil yield. This study successfully established an efficient direct regeneration system for transgenic production of P. cablin using Agrobacterium-mediated genetic transformation. Leaf segments showed the highest regeneration frequency of 93.30% on optimal MS medium fortified with 0.2mg/L BAP and 0.1mg/L NAA, with a faster regeneration time compared to other explants.

Summary: In this study, the researchers constructed de novo transcriptomes from two chemical types of Pogostemon cablin using the Pacific Biosciences Sequel platform and performed differential expression analysis. They found genetic differences between the two types that contribute to differences in morphology and biosynthetic capabilities. The study identified key pathways involved in the biosynthesis of secondary metabolites and provided important insights for further genome annotation and transcriptome research in P. cablin.

Summary: Research was conducted on the manufacture of hydrogel films using polyvinyl alcohol, corn starch, patchouli oil, and silver nanoparticles. The silver nanoparticles were synthesized using green synthesis methods from patchouli plants. The resulting hydrogel films showed flexibility, no holes or air bubbles, and were slightly agglomerated. The hydrogel films exhibited thermal stability and antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermis, with the best activity observed in the hydrogel film loaded with silver nanoparticles synthesized in aqueous of patchouli leaf extract and light fraction of patchouli oil.
