Summary: The management of juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) has improved significantly in recent years with the introduction of new drug therapies. Current ongoing clinical research in JIA primarily focuses on drug therapy and diagnostics, while other issues within JIA play a subordinate role in current research. Future research should consider specific pediatric needs more effectively.

Summary: Navigating the dietary treatment was found to be challenging for both parents and children. While most participants reported positive effects, such as reduced pain and improved gastrointestinal function, they faced practical and socio-emotional challenges. Parents struggled with the demands of the diet, while children had to deal with the social and emotional consequences. Additional support is needed in finding simple solutions and strengthening organizational food skills. Despite the difficulties, participants had overall positive experiences and attitudes towards the intervention.

Summary: This study describes the clinical features and treatment outcomes of children with juvenile psoriatic arthritis (JPsA) and compares the different patterns of the disease between early-onset and late-onset age groups. The study found that about one-third of JPsA patients do not have psoriasis at the time of diagnosis, and children with PsA seem to display two different phenotypes.

Summary: This study examined criticisms of the mixed methods field across different disciplines, identifying 11 different criticisms categorized into four domains. Researchers found that diverging views on foundational issues in this field reflect affiliation to different communities of practice, each with its own principles, values, and interests. Increased awareness of these diverging perspectives could aid in establishing effective collaborations and anticipating challenges when working with researchers who have different methodological approaches.

Summary: The studies explored the relationship between parents' attitudes towards childhood vaccines and their self-reported behavior, as well as the link between parents' emotional competence and their attitudes towards vaccines. Findings suggest that parents' emotional competences have a significant impact on attitudes towards vaccines, highlighting a need for intervention strategies to focus on aspects related to individual emotions.

Summary: This study compared MRI findings between patients clinically suspected of Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) and patients with ankle arthralgia of unknown cause. The results showed that inflammatory features were observed on MRI, with tenosynovitis being significantly more common in JIA patients. However, the MRI summarized score did not effectively differentiate between JIA and non-JIA patients.

Summary: Juvenile psoriatic arthritis (JPsA) is a controversial subset of juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), accounting for 1-7% of cases. There has been debate about whether JPsA should be classified as a distinct category within JIA. Studies have shown that children with JPsA can be divided into two subgroups based on their clinical features and genetic determinants. The ongoing discussion has prompted the revision of the current classification of JPsA.

Summary: This study explored the factor structure and psychometric properties of the Portuguese version of the Parents' Beliefs About Children's Emotions Questionnaire (PBACE). The questionnaire showed adequate fit and reliability for most of its scales, confirming its validity as a measure of parental beliefs about children's emotions. However, the use of one scale was not recommended.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate changes in health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in children and young people with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) over 3 years following diagnosis. The results showed significant improvements in all HRQoL domains, except general health perceptions, over the 3-year follow-up period. Physical health domains showed greater improvement than psychosocial domains, and females had worse HRQoL scores in many aspects. Early developmentally appropriate clinical intervention is recommended to reduce the impact of JIA on both psychosocial and physical well-being.

Summary: This study validates the JIA parent global assessment as a valid measure of health-related quality of life. Comparisons with other HRQoL measures show good construct validity. However, reliability estimates and measurement errors were unsatisfactory, likely due to the time interval between assessments. Causal pathway analysis confirms previous findings.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the comfort level, practices, and barriers of adult rheumatologists in providing optimal care for young adults with pediatric-onset rheumatic conditions in Canada. A survey was conducted and distributed to adult rheumatologists, and responses were analyzed. The results showed that most rheumatologists lacked training in transition care but were interested in learning more about it. Barriers to providing transition care included a lack of primary care providers, allied health support, and training in caring for this age group. The study highlights the need for education and research in transition care for this unique patient population.
