Summary: This study investigated the value of ultrasonography in differentiating intramuscular capillary-type hemangioma (ICTH) from fibro-adipose vascular anomaly (FAVA). The results showed that ultrasonography can be utilized to differentiate these two conditions and the combined diagnosis method has high efficacy.

Summary: This study retrospectively collected all cases of ICTH followed up in 9 French hospital centers and assessed their diagnostic criteria and treatments. The results showed that ICTH can be diagnosed on MRI, and complete surgical resection is the most frequent treatment for typical ICTH, while atypical ICTH may require biopsy or angiography.

Summary: Soft tissue tumors are rare mesenchymal tumors with diverse differentiation. They are challenging to diagnose due to the variety of tumor types and histological overlap. Advances in molecular genetic techniques and the development of immunohistochemical markers have improved our understanding of the molecular pathogenesis of soft tissue tumors. This review provides updated information on recent molecular findings and novel immunohistochemical markers in selected soft tissue tumors.

Summary: Most fat-containing soft tissue tumors in children are benign, with liposarcomas being extremely rare in this age group. However, many benign tumors in children may exhibit imaging features similar to adult liposarcoma. The aim of this study was to confirm the overall benignity of these tumors in a pediatric cohort and identify the clinical and imaging characteristics that indicate the need for a biopsy.

Diagnosis and management of intercostal intramuscular hemangioma: an updated review

Diagnosis of Local Recurrence of Malignant Soft Tissue Tumors after Reconstructive Surgery on MRI

Summary: The purpose of this study was to analyze MRI findings of locoregional recurrence following reconstructive surgery after malignant soft tissue tumor resection. The study retrospectively reviewed 53 postoperative MRIs from 37 patients and analyzed 76 enhancing lesions. The common MRI features of locoregional recurrence were nodular shape, well-defined borders, hyperintensity on T2WI, impeded water diffusion, and intense or moderate enhancement.

Summary: This study evaluated the long-term aesthetic outcomes of treating infantile haemangiomas with propranolol or atenolol, based on the perspectives of physicians, parents, and children. The results showed no significant differences between the two treatments in terms of aesthetic outcomes. Physicians, parents, and children had a positive outlook on the residual lesion.

Differential pericyte marker expression in craniofacial benign and malignant vascular tumors

Summary: This study investigated vascular tumors and found that pericyte markers were increased in perivascular cells of benign hemangiomas, especially intraosseous hemangiomas. In contrast, pericyte markers were significantly reduced in malignant angiosarcomas. These results provide insights into the function of pericytes in vascular tumors and their role in different types of vascular tumor diseases.

MDM2 Implications for Potential Molecular Pathogenic Therapies of Soft-Tissue Tumors

Inhibiting MDM2's function is a potential therapeutic strategy for treating these tumors.

Primary Soft-Tissue Lymphomas: MRI Features Help Discriminate From Other Soft-Tissue Tumors

Summary: In this study, the researchers investigated whether conventional MRI could differentiate extra-nodal soft-tissue lymphomas from other soft-tissue tumors. The results showed that MRI features such as signal intensity, enhancement pattern, presence of blood or fibrotic signal, and abnormal vasculature were independent predictors of lymphomas. The findings suggest that MRI can be a useful tool in suggesting the diagnosis of lymphomas and expediting histopathological analysis.

Summary: A correct differentiation between hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and intracellular cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is essential but challenging. Dynamic contrast-enhanced ultrasound (D-CEUS) and shear wave elastography (SWE) can provide valuable information for accurate diagnosis. A multiparametric ultrasound (MP-US) score based on D-CEUS and SWE parameters showed high accuracy in distinguishing ICC from HCC, potentially reducing the need for liver biopsy.

Summary: Pulmonary ossification is a rare condition characterized by mature bone formation in the lung parenchyma. This report presents a case of a 20-year-old female patient with fibrolamellar hepatocellular carcinoma and bilateral diffuse nodular pulmonary ossification, who underwent neoadjuvant chemotherapy and staged thoracotomies for treatment. Histology showed nodular type pulmonary ossification, highlighting the importance of recognizing this rare disease process.

Summary: Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors (MPNSTs) are aggressive soft tissue sarcomas with nerve sheath differentiation. They have a tendency to metastasize and are relatively common in individuals with neurofibromatosis type 1. The staging of MPNSTs is complex and requires multi-disciplinary collaboration. Surgical management is the primary approach, with non-surgical modalities playing a supportive role. Advances in molecular characterization have allowed the integration of targeted inhibitors into MPNST management.
