Summary: Overcoming cisplatin-based drug resistance in lung cancer remains a challenge globally. Recent studies have shown that Rab GTPases play a role in multiple aspects of tumor progression, including drug resistance. In this study, a nanosystem was developed using Rab26 siRNA-loaded nanoparticles, which effectively transfected cisplatin-resistant lung cancer cells and induced apoptosis while inhibiting autophagy disruption. The combination therapy of siRab26 knockdown with cisplatin improved antitumor therapy in vitro and in vivo. These findings suggest that siRNP is an effective platform for lung cancer therapy in cases of drug resistance.

Summary: Skp2, an E3 ligase, is overexpressed in NSCLC and is associated with the downregulation of MLKL, a regulator of necroptosis. Inhibition of Skp2 enhances the efficacy of cisplatin, a chemotherapy drug, in NSCLC and inhibits tumor growth. Mechanistically, Skp2 promotes the ubiquitination-mediated degradation of MLKL in cisplatin-resistant NSCLC cells.

Summary: Lung cancer is the most common malignancy and is still the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. The androgen receptor (AR) has been shown to potentially play a role in the progression of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). This study discovered that AR can suppress NSCLC cell invasion and increase cisplatin response by downregulating the expression of circular RNA (circRNA) SLCO1B7. The results suggest that targeting the AR/circ-SLCO1B7/miR-139-5p/TPD52 signaling pathway may be a new therapeutic strategy for NSCLC.

Summary: This study demonstrates that cannabidiol (CBD) inhibits the growth and metastasis of drug-resistant non-small cell lung cancer cells (NSCLC) and induces apoptosis of cisplatin-resistant cells. It acts through the TRPV2 receptor and modulates oxidative stress pathways. CBD could be a promising therapeutic strategy for cisplatin-resistant NSCLC.

Summary: Platinum-based therapies are the main treatment for non-small cell lung cancers (NSCLC), but multidrug resistance often leads to treatment failure. In this study, two sets of organometallic Ru(II) compounds were synthesized and tested on NSCLC cell lines, showing strong activity against cisplatin-resistant cells by inhibiting transporters MRP1 and P-gp. These compounds act as MDR-selective compounds and have the potential to enhance cisplatin cytotoxicity significantly.

Summary: Between January and April 2022, a liver-transplantation center in the U.K. received a total of 44 children with acute hepatitis, with 6 of them undergoing liver transplantation. Most of the children presented with symptoms such as jaundice, vomiting, and diarrhea. Human adenovirus was detected in a majority of the children, although its role in the pathogenesis of the illness is still unknown.

Summary: Isoalantolactone, a compound derived from Inula helenium L., has been identified as a potential glycolysis inhibitor to overcome cisplatin resistance in ovarian cancer. It effectively targets key glycolytic enzymes and enhances sensitivity to cisplatin-induced apoptosis. In vivo studies demonstrate its ability to suppress tumor growth in cisplatin-resistant ovarian cancer.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of concomitant treatment with time-restricted feeding (TRF) plus cisplatin (DDP) on lung cancer growth in DDP-resistant and DDP-sensitive lung cancer cells. The results show that TRF significantly enhances the drug susceptibility of DDP in DDP-resistant cells and inhibits cell proliferation, migration, and promotes apoptosis. The synergistic anti-tumor effect of combined DDP and TRF is greater than that of combined DDP and simulated fasting condition (STS). Furthermore, the combination of TRF and DDP upregulates the P53 protein expression without changing mRNA levels, indicating its potential as a novel therapeutic strategy for lung cancer patients.

Summary: The coxsackie and adenovirus receptor (CAR) is highly expressed in lung cancer and may promote tumor growth and regulate epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT). Our study demonstrates that CAR contributes to lung cancer metastasis through promoting cell-matrix adhesion, providing new insights into the cooperation between cell-cell and cell-matrix proteins in tumorigenesis.

Summary: The study aimed to sensitize cisplatin-resistant ovarian cancer cells towards cisplatin using cisplatin-loaded nanostructured lipid carriers. The results showed that the synthesized cisplatin-loaded nanostructured lipid carriers successfully enhanced the sensitivity of the resistant cancer cells by modifying reactive oxygen species levels and increasing apoptosis in the cells.
