Summary: The study examined the impact of physical activity on health-related quality of life in postmenopausal women with breast cancer. The results showed that a proportion of women in the sample met physical activity recommendations, but there were no significant relationships between physical activity and health-related quality of life.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of physical therapy based on PNF techniques in the treatment of multiple sclerosis. The results show that in patients with early forms of MS, PT can significantly improve lower limb mobility, coordination while walking, dexterity in the upper limbs, and concentration ability. However, the improvement in disability level is minimal.

Summary: This Danish cohort study investigated the association between hormone therapy (HT) and disease activity and disability accrual among women with multiple sclerosis (MS). The study found no significant association between HT and disability accrual, although there was a trend for increased risk with longer duration of use. However, current users of HT had a 20% increased risk of recurrent relapse compared to non-users.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate perceived QoL, compare QoL scores between transgender women and men, and identify possible contributing factors related to GAHT. The results suggest that GAHT-related physical characteristics may impact QoL scores, and sociodemographic parameters may influence these associations. Healthcare providers should take these factors into consideration for interventions to improve QoL in transgender individuals.

Summary: The majority of individuals who develop multiple sclerosis (MS) are women before menopause, with a significant portion of the current MS population being peri- or postmenopausal women. Symptoms of MS and menopause can overlap, leading to challenges in identifying the underlying cause of symptoms. Postmenopausal women with MS may experience disability progression due to neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration, potentially influenced by age-related phenomena and reduced estrogen levels. Studies on the effects of menopause in women with MS suggest potential benefits from hormone therapy, but more diverse representation in clinical trials is needed.

Summary: The study found specific methylation differences in response to hormone therapy among women who were 10 or more years postmenopause. Further research is needed to determine the functional consequences of these changes on atherosclerosis progression and the protective effects of hormone therapy.

Summary: Poor sleep quality is common in people with multiple sclerosis (MS), and strongly associated with worse health-related quality of life. This association is independent of other MS symptoms and does not cluster with other common MS symptoms.

Summary: We discussed the CV safety and efficacy of subcutaneous testosterone therapy (STT) in postmenopausal women. Our proposed innovative criteria (IDEALSTT) for recommending STT include total testosterone level, carotid artery intima-media thickness, and calculated SCORE for 10-year CVD risk. While hormone replacement therapy (HRT) with testosterone has gained popularity in treating pre and postmenopausal women, the long-term safety and CV risk of STT in women are still controversial.

Summary: This study found that in postmenopausal women in Taiwan, hormone therapy with oral conjugated equine estrogen (CEE) may be associated with a higher risk of ischemic stroke (IS) compared to estradiol (E2), especially when initiated within 5 years of menopause.

Summary: Hormone therapy (HT) in postmenopausal women has both benefits and risks, and determining the right initiation time, regimen, and duration is crucial. Recent studies suggest that early initiation of HT is safe and may reduce long-term mortality in symptomatic postmenopausal women under the age of 60. Transdermal and vaginal HT may have lower risks, but oral HT formulations have additional clinical benefits in relieving symptoms and preventing osteoporosis.

Summary: The study evaluated serum estradiol levels in postmenopausal women using different doses and formulations of oral menopausal hormone therapy. It found that serum estradiol levels were not directly proportional to estrogen dose, with estradiol 2 mg showing significantly higher levels compared to estradiol 1 mg and conjugated estrogen 0.45 mg.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the self-esteem levels among Saudis with physical disabilities based on socio-economic factors, and determine the minimum duration of physical activity and other factors influencing self-esteem. The results showed that compared to women, men had higher levels of overall self-esteem, positive feelings, and negative feelings. Wheelchair-using participants had the highest levels of self-esteem and positive feelings, while cane-using participants or those who did not use mobility aids had the lowest. Weekly physical activity was found to be the most influential factor on self-esteem.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the influence of smoking habits, exposure to passive smoking and snuff use on disease progression, cognitive performance and quality of life in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). The study found that smoking and passive smoking have negative effects on MS, and smoking cessation post diagnosis may be an important secondary preventive measure. Snuff use was associated with slower disease progression.

Summary: This study investigated the association between different types of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and atrial fibrillation (AF). The findings showed that current HRT users, except those using estradiol-only HRT, had significantly elevated AF risk, while past users who used estradiol plus progestin HRT had a reduced AF risk.
