Jabalpur Prognostic Scoring System: Revisited After 2 Decades

Summary: Jabalpur Prognostic Scoring System (JPSS) is a simple scoring system used to predict the outcome of perforated peptic ulcer (PPU). It is based on six easily obtainable parameters, and its accuracy has been validated and found comparable to other prognostic scoring systems. The availability of SICU prompted a reassessment of the utility and validity of JPSS in the current age.

The findings can inform the development of patient-reported outcome measures and quality improvement programs.

Summary: The aim of this study was to translate and validate the Caregiver Quality of Life Index-Cancer (C-QOLC) in Hindi. The translation process involved forward and backward translation by different professionals. The validation study included 110 caregivers of Breast cancer patients, and the results showed that the Hindi version of the C-QOLC is a reliable and valid measure of quality of life for Hindi-speaking caregivers.

Impact of Topical Epinephrine with Xylocaine on Drainage After Axillary Lymph Node Dissection: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Summary: In this study, we evaluated the impact of topical epinephrine with xylocaine on drainage after axillary lymph node dissection. The results showed that the total drainage volume and duration of drainage were significantly decreased in the epinephrine with xylocaine group compared to the conventional drainage group. The incidence of seroma formation and wound infection was similar in both groups.

Total vs less than total thyroidectomy for benign multinodular non-toxic goiter: an updated systematic review and meta-analysis

Summary: This article presents an updated meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials comparing total thyroidectomy (TT) with less than total thyroidectomy (LTT) for benign multinodular non-toxic goiter (BMNG). The results show that TT has a lower recurrence rate compared to LTT, and the rates of adverse events such as temporary or permanent recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) palsy and permanent hypoparathyroidism are similar in both groups except for temporary hypoparathyroidism, which is lower in the LTT group.
